...not to take anything away from our Military
and all those brave souls of someone's brother, sister, dad, uncle and more...
But this event bears a strong resemblence to why we have a Rememberence Day. Maybe to some of us who may not be old enough to remember back to the Cold War & WW era. This puts it into the current context.
Through the various media events in the last few days, there was often the reminder - do you remember where you were that day?
YES - I was travelling in a car between TO - Mtl. What was being reported at first was sketchy, from NEAR Edmonton, officers down, unconfirmend rumours of fatalaties, various backup forces dispatched etc. As we neared our destination, the horrible truth began to unfold. The events were carried live on TV, interrupting regulary scheduled programming (this is in Quebec). I was in Mtl for a length of time following as well. The memorial in Edm was carried live on national (CBC french & english). I well recognized the streets the march followed, if I could, I would have been back, standing along that route to show my support & condolences to the officers & their families.
Nothing can be done to bring these extended families back(RCMP & loved ones). There can be a silver lining in this, what I saw/shared was a Nation grieving, regional differences set aside. This was not a localized event but something that is the current criminal flair with implications in my/your backyard. Then their is the famalies push to have the new justice minister recognize that these poor criminals (sic) are not just to be slapped on the wrist anymore.
God(any) Bless those who are/were associated by these events. I stand by you!
