Yes, tonight is the first race of the year. From down under.

It's on at 9:30pm Sat night.

Looks like it will be an interesting year. Lots of drivers changed rides and teams changed owners. Also some new rules.

There is no race at Indy this year. Only one race in North America.
Seems to be a big push in Asia.

Will Hamilton win it this year? Will Alanso return to form. Maybe Kimmy can repeat as champ.

it all starts tonight.

Great pole-to-pole win for Hamilton.
Kimi and Ferrari have their work cut out for them.
BMW looks like a very serious contender.
And I hope Williams will be back among the winners after too long a drought.

Wild race last night. Great to see Nick and Nico make the podium, I would love to see BMW or Williams on the top step once or twice this year. Hopefully this year will be very interesting for what happens on the track and not in court.

Finally no traction control, it's about time, lets get back to the old days when the driver was more important than the guy with the laptop writing code.

12 hours of ALMS then FI, lots of beer, a few of the boys and some steaks, Sat. was a very good day. :D

Ok with Champ Car and IRL getting together but fuck those POS cars have to go, and Tony G is still a cock sucking asshole who fucked up the sport so bad it will take years if not decades to fix. I hope I get to piss on his head at a race sooner than later. Get back to Road America, who the hell wants to see a friggen ovel in Iowa??

For so many years the F1 title seemed to contested by 2 teams whether it be Ferrari, Renault, McLaren or Williams. It's refreshing to see a number of teams being competitve and new faces being mentioned. If only Honda and Toyota could get their act together we'd have a real interesting mish mash of cars.

With Ross Braun now at Honda, things are looking up for them.
And with Ralf gone from Toyota, they've got to be on the road to improvement, too.

Race 2 Malaysia

Ferrari were the class of the field until Massa had a brain fart and went off.
Kimmiy lead most of the way and got the 10 points.
Hamilton seemed to fight his car all day, also problem in pits did not help.
Nice to see other teams making in roads, BMW and Williams are improving.
Good to have more competition out there.
The lack traction control is showing big time now. It will take time for the drivers to get used to it.

Bahrain in 2 weeks.

I have a love/hate relationship with Formula 1, but Lewis Hamilton has done a lot to swing me back.
Mclaren will have it tough, especially with Ferrari closing the gap this year.

What a podium -- two Finns and a Pole! F1 has never seen that before.

I am really glad to see Toyota is finally looking like a real competitor. That factory has been throwing nearly as much money into F1 as George W. has been wasting in Iraq, and with just about as much success, or lack of it, until now.

I hope Massa gets his peepee whacked for losing all those constructors' points.

Word has it the boys in red have a brand new state of the art carbon fiber peepee whacker that they have just introduced for this race. BMW and Toyota have already petitioned the FIA to see if it conforms to the new rules. :p

On a serious note good to see BMW on the podium again. Lets hope things go down to the last race again this year.

BMW/Kubica looked good. Fast and in good form. I think he is only 21!!
Big upside to him.
I think Kubica is 23 but yes still a big up side. BMW also has Vettel under contract and is only loaning him to STR. If they can keep both for a few years and continue to improve it would be great to see a three or four team fight for the championship.

Sorry to dig up an old tread but.........

Sad day for F1 fans. Phil Hill has passed away. The man was a true legend in the sport. Heart felt condolences to his wife and children. :(

Can you guys explain to me what it is that you get out of auto racing? I just don't get it. I have only watched the odd race and seeing cars drive around a track bored me to tears.

Now, I see the crowds at these events and see how many people are FANATICAL about it, so the question is, "What am I missing here?". There has to be something I'm not getting. I LOVE watching pretty much any sport out there. Help me out guys, I'm almost jealous of not getting the joy that you do out of these events!!!

Can't explain it, you like it or you don't.

NFL is the biggest sport in North America and I can't stand it, never watch it. To each his own.

I appreciate it....

The tech stuff in this sport is amazing.
These cars would fly if they had wings. They stick to the road only millimeters from the ground. Also they have about 900 horsepower. I can appreciate all the work that goes into them just by looking at the engine in my Honda, which has a lot of the same stuff.
The top teams spend about 300 million bucks. Top drivers make around $20 to 30 million per season.
They travel the world. From Canada, China, the Middle east and South East Asia.

There will be a night race in Singapore coming up, for the first time. It will be a street race.

That and all the history. Arton Senna is a god in Brazil. Gillies Villenvue was amazing and would have been a great one. Also got to see the career of the best ever in Michael Schmuacher.
There is all kinds of drama and strategy going on.

Not to mention all the hot babes who hang around.

A rainy day at Monza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another wacky race. Heavy rain at the start. All drivers on full wet tires.
Vetel on Pole!!!! What the heck!! I missed quaifiying this time so don't know how he got there. They do use last years Ferrari engines though.

What do you know!!!! Vetel leads and wins from pole!!! Youngest ever winner in the history of F1.
Hamilton and Massa are now only one point apart. Hamilton drove very strangely and risky. I really don't like him anyway. Kind of like hating Gretzky.
I am hoping Massa wins it this year.

Nice to see other teams making it more fun to watch.

So, Next up is the night race in Sinapore. On a street curcit. Sept 28th.

Good fun!!!!
