I've decided to post my general questions here to obtain a wide range of opinions. Also, even though the question concerns strip clubs, it doesn’t seem to belong in the review sections…
Stripping is something I’ve been curious about for years, and I finally decided to go ahead with active research on turning it from fantasy into reality.

I have two main questions to men here who, I assume, probably frequent strip clubs; and to the women who have a dancing background or whose friends might have it.

Firstly, I am completely paranoid about a license. I know in Canada, pretty much anywhere, you need a license and police clearance to dance. Since I expect to lead an active life with possible consulting, corporate and charitable pursuits, I really don’t want this to come and bite me at a later point. I have already talked to CRA, municipal licensing and police clearance personnel. The lady at police security clearance unit assured me that no one would ever find out about it. If I break the law or have a criminal record, then yes, it will show up on any background check. But an exotic dancer license is completely confidential. Ladies, is this consistent with your experience?

Secondly, I like to think of stripping as a form of art. I love dance in general, and I love sensual dance. If I were to work at a strip club, I’d love to make a performance out of it, integrating what little knowledge of traditional dance and gymnastics I have. But, having been to strip clubs several times, I don’t see much of it. While some girls perform absolutely amazing moves many only bend, touch themselves, or wiggle their hips. Basically, stripping can be art. But more often than not, it isn’t. I know this is very frustrating for many strippers with professional dancing background who put all of themselves into their stage performance only to see it completely neglected. And yet, I have seen the applause that good technique can elicit.
Gentlemen, do you appreciate artistic striptease? What do you want to see on stage when you at a club? Do the criteria for stage and lapdances differ?

And a question to all, in your opinion, what makes a good dancer?

First and foremost, a little personality goes a LONG way. Smile, at least try to look like you are excited to be up there, rather than reading the phone book.
I couldn't agree more. For a lotta guys (me included) the stripper experience is about fantasy: an imagined relationship with the dancer. (We know it's fantasy--that's why we're there!) Smile. Make eye contact. Pick out individuals along the stage and come up to them, but don't forget to play the whole crowd. Make everyone in that room feel special, if even for only 10 seconds!
On technique: you don't need to do continual backflips in time to the music!!! While a lot of guys DO appreciate the effort involved, it is not necessary. Tricks are nice (like one girl who wrapped a match around her nipple and lit it!! NO KIDDING), but aren't necessary either.
IT IS MORE SEXY TO MOVE TORTURING SLOW AND SENSUAL OUT OF SYNC WITH THE MUSIC than it is to move quickly in time!
TEASING helps, too: cover your naughty bits with your hand and firtively move your hand aside. Touch your chest and nether regions in a sensual way. Lay on your back, crossing and uncrossing your legs. Face your back to the audience, looking through your legs. If you have hair, use it.
Finally, not only watch experienced girls dance, but watch the reactions of the audience members (and the audiences' members :p ). THAT'S what works!

Pesona;ity, personality and, oh yeah, personality. Take some hints from the show 'Top Model", you have to find a way to communicate to the audience that shows that you are more than a naked chick strutting around for money. One of the best shows I have ever seen was after the show. A girl at the old Red Fox had just completed her act complete with a shower scene and was cleanig up the stage. She had slipped on a shorty terry robe which was loosely tied while she went across the stage on her hands and knees wiping up the water, smiling at the guys the whole time and flashing her still bare ass. Everyguy went quiet just watching and imagining a similar scene in a more domestic locale, then the aplause and cheering started which was just as loud as when she finished the formal part of her show.

I remember years ago, when I was in Calgary, I used to go to a place called the Blue Mouse (I think). There was a dancer there that was one of the most popular. She was chubby and not very attractive, but made up for it by putting on the best show. She would have different theme costumes (like little Bo Peep) and really put a lot of imagination into the routine.

That was Ingrid, I think. I used to go out with one of the dancers there, the big busty blond one!
It was both the Blue Mouse and the Blind Mouse.

Thank you for the feedback.

One more question, I am assuming many have seen Striptease with Demi Moore. As unrealistic as the movie was, what did you think of her stage routines? She was definitely very much into the performance and with a lot of personality, but it was different from the typical "make eye contact, smile all the time" attitude that seems to be most prevalent.

On the other hand, variety and not overwhelming senses to the point of dulling them is important. So if I really want to develop a dance that fits the intensity and depth of certain Pink Floyd songs, I'd better do something more happy and airy with the next tune? ;)

Exotic Dancing

"It's a lot harder than it looks", is what I've been told. I used to date a dancer and learned through her experiences that exotic dancing is very hard on the knees and lower back.

Sign up to this dancer website run for and by dancers. It should help answer anything you might have about exotic dancing.

If you're in Vancouver, you should talk to "Crissy Crimson" who is a veteran dancer and frequents the Cecil much of the time. Usually managment fire alot of girls or send them to her to learn how to dance. She's pretty cool girl, very friendly and nice.

As for technique, from my perspective, a good dancer has a feel for the song she's dancing to and can make every movement appear gracefull and effortless.

Every girl has a different way about her technique. And most guys have different tastes as to what they like.

Me, I personally enjoy the sultry dancers that strut slowly on stage and moves elegantly cheerful to a good song, and then mesmerizes you with thier gorgeous eyes and reads my naughty thoughts when they bend into all these sexually explicit poses....but thats just me I'm sure.

The sleeziest, seediest strip club I ever went to was in TO. It was called "Le Strip". It had ol theatre seating and if you put up $1, the girls would go infront of you, put their legs on the arm rests and stick their pussy within an inch of your face. For $5 you could touch, $10 you could stick a finger inside and for $20 you could stick your tongue inside for a good lick.
