Henry said B.C. scientists and health experts are working with others around the world to understand the virus.

“There’s some evidence that this coronavirus is behaving like other coronaviruses, which means that when we have increased UV light and warmer temperatures it tends to fade away.”

That would mean it could come back in the fall like many other respiratory viruses, even with all the measures being taken, Henry said.

“The one caveat to that is when a new virus is introduced into a human population, for which we have no immunity, it may not fade away in the ways we would see once it’s been circulating for a while.”

It’s still unclear how COVID-19 might spread in the months ahead, she said.

No global warming where I am, the weather has been shitty, more like January than April. Global warming another hoax perpetrated on the masses.

Sounds a lot like like Trump when he said a few weeks ago - only 15 cases in US, it will all go away soon.

I don't think the OP is claiming the virus cannot exist in warm weather, but that it tends to reduce it. Though i'd like to see what "evidence" there is for this claim.

Trump said it would go away soon.

You don' think it will?
There is a big gap between going away soon, and lasting forever. I don't think it will go away soon.

As for lasting forever, that depends on what you meant by forever. Take measles as an example, we have very effective vaccine against measles, and for many years it was effectively eradicated in North America. However, the anti-vaccine idiots has allowed measles to make a come back in last few years.

Best case scenario, scientists develop an effective and safe vaccine that can be used by mass population in the next year. It will take another 6 months to a year to immunize the majority of world population. After that, there will be herd immunity and we will get pockets of infection from time to time. I don't want to talk about worst case scenarios right now.

Do you think the anti-vaccers will be in line for CoVid shots?

I think with the summer coming it, the virus will either become less of a problem, BUT if people don't take it seriously and let down their safe procedures, then it could come back with a vengeance. Either in the summer or fall.
So summer comes along, not many new outbreaks, then ferries & planes and beaches are full of people and away it goes again.

Pretty hard to predict what stupid people will do. Your guess is as good as mine.

Having said that, we have no idea what is the risk with a yet to be developed vaccine, how long it will take to develop, and how long to produce in huge quantity. So, opting out may be the most selfless thing an anti-vaccer can do while the supply is low.

My experience although limited, with anti-vaccers is they won't let science in the way of stupid.
