I have found the same to be true, and have complained about it on this board as well. Leolist and many of these sites suck now. Years ago that wasn't the case. You could actually message a girl, set up a date, pay her cash and fuck her. Now the scammers have ruined the site. Lately I've mainly been seeing girls at the spas, working my way through their girls. Which has at least gotten me what I want, and not asked for a bullshit deposit in the process.
Unlike the OP, I have always said no to any asking for a deposit. They will try and justify themselves. Saying they would not do anything to ruin their (nonexistent in the first place) reputation. This will say you can buy a gift card instead as though this in anyway sounds like a reasonable alternative. cash is king, saying you wont accept cash is about as brain-dead as saying you don't accept oxygen.
Sadly I have found many of the ads that say they WILL accept cash are bait and switches. Couple months ago I had two girls I was interacting with, fully expecting at least one of them would fall though for one reason or another. First was at, what is apparently the infamous Grant St location. I showed up at the agreed time, girl texted she wasn't ready and asked me to wait, but would not say how long. Not wanting to look like a weirdo standing out front some house on the street in the middle of the afternoon, I told her I would take a walk around the block. I figured if she wasn't ready by then, I'd split.
She texted she was just finishing in the bath, then said she was ready. Now the ad was for some hot 20 something Latina girl. The girl who answered the side door to this dingy basement suite was some at least 50 something Asian woman. I confronted her about the deception, she said she's fuck me good or some bullshit. I said, "yeah, I'm leaving" and I did.
Went to the next address which was over in that motel near the Bin 4 burger place. I seem to recall this ad was for a hot 20 something White girl, but OF COURSE, girl answering the door was another Asian girl. This one was at least hot though and looked either 20's or early 30's. I probably shouldn't have rewarded the bait and switch behavior, but I just wanted some pussy, so figured hers would do, so I did fuck her.
Also one day, I found that motel on Gorge Rd had probably 15 or more different girls I messaged saying they were staying there. They would all swear up and down their pics were real. So I went to see one finally, another bait and switch, another old Asian woman again, so I left, texting the handler or whoever it was they can go fuck themselves.
So yeah, don't pay deposits, I guess unless you know you can trust the girl. I have never come across this, and honestly I don't want to even play around with paying with online anything. bait and switches are common, but I guess you can still get lucky that the switch is still hot? up to you if you wanna go through with it. And the spas at least will give you what you want.
