The inconsistency in English is remarkable.
Ch : SH sound in Champagne
CH sound as in Charm
K sound in Chemistry
G : G sound in Girl
J sound in Giant.
If we have TION in nation to make the SHUN sound then why do we need SION in concession.
If we have sh to make the SH sound in Cash then why do we use SS in concession or session to make the same sound.
When we have 'i' top make the short i sound in sister, then why is a y used in system to make the same sound.
Why does OO make different sounds in loot, book and then no sound in blood.
Why do but and butt have same sound but spelled different.
Read and Red, same sound but different spelling.
In English, one has to memorize spellings, but do not feel too bad because in some languages, (my parents' native language) you have to know gender of EVERY noun and trust me, there is no real logic. lol.
