The up date .. well all the mechanics i contacted came back and said all they could find was info on doing new cam Phaser .. after that it was they found the infor. on what else would go wrong ( just like me ) do to the oil starvation , and out of sink cam phasers .. which could of come from the timing chain being slack because of oil block to the lasher ... So in general worn and scorched cam, worn cam rockers , worn cam bearings and maybe valve gides .. Rebuild engine..
So I toke it back to dealer to either open and see what was wrong .. dreading the worst . fucked engine .. The sales manager toke it to the chief mechanic and he had a listen .. It was not cam phasers .. its is worse .. They think it needs a rebuilt engine ..
Now if you can call this the good part ., the sales manager said he would honer the offer they made me on the truck and the deal that we had put together a few days before. He knew now how bad it could be .. They will open it and rebuild it there at the shop , there project .. Yes maybe it is not as bad or when they spend $4000 or $5000 they can sell the truck for more then the $15000 they gave me, I am only out a few thousand .. .
Now I even here the horror stories from some of the ford staff and how it is well know that if your 5.4 l starts making noises that get worse . get ride of it .. Even the tire guy i talked to today knew .. just mentioned my ford had a shot engine . and he says "5.4 " .
They have it now and i have a new truck which i will be paying on for .. for a long time . I guess i should be happy that i am not eating the whole thing , that I have great credit .. at least with Ford .. and they tried to keep me a happy long time customer. They did not have to do it i even was willing to let them out of the offer and take my truck home .. I think this was the best i could do , no other dealer would give me any thing for a broken engine , and I did not want to put money down on a new truck .. This way .. my trade ,their program ... $7500 off .and me getting a service package and a long extended warranty . WE will try again ..
