As someone who used to be an educator, and worked as an educational assistant where I have 5 years of college behind me, I fully understand where this woman is coming from. You don’t make a lot of money as an educator. As a single parent I cannot make enough money as an educator, and it’s one reason I won’t go back to doing it. It’s sad that teachers don’t get paid the wages they should.
It is absolutely no surprise she lost her job. I remember when I first heard about this a couple of months ago, and I knew right then that she was going to lose her job. Once, when I worked as an educator, I was told by my employer to cover up a tattoo that is on my ankle of a mermaid because the mermaid doesn’t have her top on. This tattoo is so small it’s much smaller than the palm of my hand.
Ironically, and with his article, I can disclose that I worked as an exotic dancer, to put myself through most of my college education and my college education as an educator, and when I first started working as an educator, I was still dancing part time. If people knew what I was doing part time back, then I know I would have been fired from my jobs.
Also, ironically, One reason I went back into SW but as a FSWer was to pay off the very last of my student loans. I love my job as an educator but I also love my job as a SWer… I just happen to make much more money, and have much more flexibility doing this, and I wish this woman all of the best with her career in SW, whether she keeps it strictly online, or decides to expand it further.
I do have to wonder how the school board found out about her side job, because someone must have been looking up some kind of adult services to have found her.
