I'm a baseball fan at heart, but a sports fan in general...can somebody, on this board, explain to me how Dallas Eakins continues to have a job in the NHL coaching this team? Sure, they are living proof, that man does not live by first round draft choices alone, first round draft choices are overrated, but how on earth, again, does this clown have a job?

I think Lowe and Eakins are the ones who should be purged. Poor old McTavish is stuck in the middle.
There needs to be a shake up from the front office on down through the coaching staff. I'm not an Oilers fan, but am a hockey fan and seeing a Canadian team consistently shitting the sheets year in and out....it sucks. Except for the Leafs...they can continue to stink as it's a sign the Universe is not centered in Torontoe.

Quite honestly. Lowe needs to go, then McTavish and then Eakins and his ENTIRE staff. If they want to save this team. However Katz the assclown who owns this team should stick to his drug stores.

Hall, Eberle, Nugent Hopkins, Yakupov, Draisiatle, are all top end talent at forward. They're drafting top end talent at forward then rushing them into the NHL with very Little guidance from Veteran players. Then surrounding them with guys like Poulliot? Are you kidding me Some of the guys they've let go or traded for nothing? Is a head scratcher. They don't have a veteran core of forwards. They have no one there to help them at a forward position. Also they have way Too many of the exact same type of player.

The reason why they got rid of guys like Stoll and Hemsky for picks. Losing guys like cogliano, Sam gagne???Trading guys like Smid, Gilbert, nick schultz?? For prospects and picks?

Some of these first round top 5 picks they have are fantastic players. However, Then talent drops off severely.

Their Defense is extremely week they landed Justin Schultz ; who went for the opportunity to play with these great young players. The promise of being a #1#2 d man etc etc. He has looked good and looked extremely poor at the same time in the same game. Darnell Nurse is 2 maybe 3 years away as a bona-fide NHL d man even the Oilers have said that. And thankfully they aren't rushing him like they've done with sooooo many others.

There us little to no veteran leadership on that team Brad Ferrance. Ferrance is your guy? A 5/6 D man in Boston is your guy to inspire motivation and confidence. They have an ECHL/ KHL/AHL defense Core playing in the NHL.

You have no NHL bona-fide starting goalie Scrivens and Fasth? Really. Who do you have as the heir apparent coming in Since Lowe took over how many goalie have the Oilers gone through. There was really no Replacement for this team goaltending wise since Dwayne Roloson left. That was a long time ago.

Coaching and error correction is abysmal. I'm honestly hoping Katz sinks all of them but who do you bring in? Who in their right mind wants to leave a cushy TSN or Sportsnet or NBC job as an analyst to go in and take over that joke of a franchise at this time.

So Katz won't get rid of Lowe #1. Lowe won't get rid of McTavish and McTavish will probably dumps Eakins. But for whom? Crawford? Torterella? Keenan? Going to bring back Ralph Krueger lol.

Oilers are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Wishy washy oiler ownership in Katz with sideshow bob his son filling up every camera at draft day. Get your fucking kid off the screen Katz no one wants to see Bozo up on stage.

There is No leadership on that team from the front office down to the ice. They are a team devoid of leadership period a rudderless ship in a vast sea with NO captain. Their Rostered players, their future players / and the fans are the ones paying for their complete incompetence.

Is that enough for you lol.
Agreed. They really need to clean out the old boys club but Katz is too tight with Lowe. Didn't Lowe fire McTavish as coach and then bring him back as GM?

As a Canuck fan, I would like to see the status quo remain the same in Edmonton. It looks good on them! I remember the days when Glen Sather was coach and general manager of Edmonton and there wasn't a more smug, arrogant son of a bitch in the game. What goes around, comes around albeit a bit late.

Yeah but it's way two different eras to compare. That was 30 years ago now, a bit hard to believe. Loved the 80s runs with all the personalities of those teams.

My Rangers have been stuck with that clown Sather for more than a decade of incompetence. Wish the Oilers would take him back. :frusty: Unfortunately as long as that dumb ol' rich guy Jimmy Dolan owns the Rangers, Slats reign of error will continue. Despite having to buyout millions of $$$ in stupid contracts handed out by Sather (Redden, Drury, Richards to name a few), Dolan just loves the guy. :violin:

The Oilers need some fresh blood in the front office. Kevin Lowe fired Steve Tambellini and hired his pal Mac T. Friends hiring friends is a bad idea.

At least it will be nice to have McDavid in the division. I've been a canuck season ticket holder a long time now, and still haven't managed to see Crosby live.

But yeah, I think come summer they need to clean house completely. I don't see any real urgency right now. They are not making the playoffs, might as well get the highest pick.

Get rid of the old boy Oilers club. Lowe Mactavish, Messier etc. Say what you will about Bryan Burke, but put him in charge as president gm.
I know he is with Calgary, but make him an offer. He has left other clubs for other cities before.

According to Sportsnet columnist Mark Spector:
"My suspicion is that he will be let go after a loss on Wednesday in Winnipeg, and MacTavish will take over behind the bench with assistant Craig Ramsay."

I seem to recall a number of people around here were claiming Eakins to be the next saviour for the Canucks when we had that Torts guy here.

Meanwhile MacTavish is calling out the players for the losing streak. As a number of you have already pointed out, it's pretty apparent the Management have not put the best team on the ice. Having all those number one picks is great but not having the third and fourth line veterans, a stronger defensive core and a good goalie is killing them. My crystal ball tells me there will be some wholesale changed coming either trading assets or firing MacTavish. It will be interesting to see if one or two of their youth group gets moved.
