We have deleted several threads from clueless folks who don't know even the basics about STIs/STDs. I mean seriously? First, how the hell do you get to be an adult these days without learning this? They start teaching about sex in elementary school these days. Even as old as I am, we covered this shit in Grade 6, which was 1981 for me. On top of which, you can google anything these days and get info from the Mayo Clinic or 1000 other reputable sources, what would possess anyone to ask that stuff here? Even if it wasn't against our rules, you think some anonymous person on the net will give you accurate info? If you can't find the answers yourself online, see a doctor, a public health nurse or other health professional. If you have the info and you are still that worried, stay home and jerk off, nothing in life is without risk, you can sprain your wrist masturbating FFS.

It's harsh to say, but jesus jumping shit balls, it's like 4 of these threads in less than 2 weeks.

Keep posting these questions here and you won't have PERB to use as a resource, you will be banned from the site.

I'm guessing you're posting this because 4 threads in 2 weeks is above average, but what's the usual? I don't mean to sound cynical, but I keep pretty low expectations for general intelligence of people I know nothing about. This actually reminds me of a girl I dated. She thought condoms were only to protect from STIs/STDs and she could still get pregnant.

I recall going months and years without medical questions, it's why the Health Nurse left and that forum died. I guess I am expecting too much, for people who are out playing in the sex trade to know what they are getting themselves into. I agree that common sense isn't common and we certainly can't seem to get folks to remember to ask questions in 411 and put reviews in the review section.

Maybe it's time for a tutorial section, or a basic knowledge test before people are allowed to post.

My dad was on the school board when they were trying to introduce contraception. The religious wackos swarmed every meeting and did everything they could to disrupt debates.
Seventh Day Adventists and Baptists were the worst assholes, JWs close behind.
A doctor from Planned Parenthood made a presentation and they went nuts. They tried to block him on procedural grounds, they tried yelling over him, they quoted their bibles.
That was fifty years ago but those same lunatics are still out there as dangerous as ever.

Sadly, the right wing religious nut jobs worshipping their imaginary friend in the sky seem to be succeeding to drive us back into the dark ages!

Sex ed. back in the 90s was pretty simple. "Wrap your stump before you hump". This is a penis. This is a Vagina. This is what an STI does to both of them. Then 5 min videos from the 60s watching sperm swim to the egg, and then watching how lions and monkeys fuck.....

Today, (and I know I'm going to get blasted for this)...it's more 'politicized'.....worried more about teaching the billions of pronouns, and sample tasting HRTs, than it is worrying about preventing diseases. Turning the classroom into a Drag Queen fashion show, and kicking 'tolerance' in everyone's heads. "AIDS is bad, but don't worry the past 30 years of medical advancement and it's become a non-issue now, so let's focus on all that time gained on topics like 'Can the Wachowskis claim credit for the Matrix movies without being victims of deadnaming?', or 'the brilliant madness of Jessica Yanniv and the fight to get her balls waxed'....

....so really I wouldn't be surprised if people have going total retard on how STIs work, if more nonsensical issues are always pushed to the forefront.

Not a blast, but I disagree. Sex Ed occurs, but its unclear how much is taught about STI's and how much RE-education occurs. Its done in middle school (just like I was a kid) and for like half the kids, its this icky/weird subject we're not ready for. By the time I became sexually active, it was well over a decade later. I recall VERY little being taught in HS (just some jock PE teacher running through some talking points as quickly as he could), and none afterwards (after HS, you're on your own, of course!). Zilch PSA's that I recall (which is the only way to reach anyone), zilch internet ads (plenty of PSA on lots of other health things in the world, but very little on sex ed/STI/etc).

So I'd say the education is minimal (still), its done at an early age but not adequately repeated (still), and NO education is done to the general public. Very little information 'sticks' with people when taught once, especially as a lecture, especially if the teacher sucks. (how much does anyone remember from 6-8 grade classes? ). Learning requires renewing the information, which doesn't occur.

You would be amazed about how many people ask us sex Ed questions and don't have even the foggiest idea about how STIs are transmitted.

We tell them these questions are best left for Google and your doctor.

More often than not these questions are fielded by someone who immigrated to Canada. Many countries have virtually no sex Ed.

Learning about STI transmission is notably absent in China for example... And mostly just word of mouth resulting in somewhat laughable "facts".

Listen to the president of Planned ParentHood, as she describes what states have done for education.

I grew up in the 50s snd 60s in Victoria and honest I got a very incomplete and erratic sex education.. .As a kid I just would here things that my dad might through out about STDs.at least tge littke gr knew. At 13 or so my mom pulled out a pamphlet from the 50s for me and my sister to read. I am sure mom had a better talk with my sister.
In high school we had one sex ed period ,yes they showed a useless film and the teacher were embaristed to tslk about sex. Lot of students. Laughs and heckling. Obviously some of the guys and girls were already sexually active
I think a herd more info in the guys gym locker room.
And the one Playboy mag. I got just helped conferm what girl parts should look like . Lol.
Honestly I was sexually active till I was 50 and all though I had herd a lot through the years and read some stern lots of porn, I got most of my education on sex , STDs and what realy goes on in sexual relationships after I was 50.

I have know idea what is being taught today in sex ed. Or what parent are telling their children. I think most parents are still up tight about the subject and prob miss informed themselves depending on there own sexual experience.
And there still is the majority of kids. gong blindly into sex..when they get most of their info from porn site. Tic tok and there favorit rapper song and the relationships of their favourit artis.

And now it look like sexual health has taken a whole step back to the dark ages in the US. And the ultra religious right dictates what can be talked about in schools.
We live in totally different sexual landscape but sexual ignorance still prevails

I was born in 1977, so went to school in the 80s and 90s.
There was absolutely no sex ed in elementary school, and in grade 10, our awkward home ec teacher attempted to teach us sex ed. She was more embarrassed than the students were. It was a lot of her saying 'ummmmmm' ' so uh ya so ummmm Don't have sex' and then about a 5 minute video that was completely useless. Afterwards that was it, no Q&A, nothing. Pretty sure that most of the students had already been having sex, and knew more about it than the teacher. If anything her babbling hurt, not helped, what most students knew.
