Agreed, not much X-mas cheer going around, everyone stressed about the "market" or something..

Same shit...different year

Personally, I am spending the same amount on presents as previous years, but overall...I wouldn't mind skipping Christmas this year.

Besides having a nice big meal and getting drunk, Christmas is just another big bill...

It's going to feel like Christmas here by the weekend!!!
They are talking minus temps and mentioning the "white stuff" (not coke you asshole - SNOW!!!)
As far as everyone's moods, I think it is what you make it. Yes the economy sucks; yes there are wars going on in the world, yes people are starving, but life does go on.
The people I know are scaling back this year - not spending as much as years past and getting more involved in activities to help the less fortunate. I know my SO and I have not bought each other anything this year (except perhaps a few stocking stuffers) and are concentrating our efforts in helping out at the Union Gospel Mission. We have done this for the last few years now and trust me if you didn't have the Christmas spirit before you will after.
Try it - you'll like it!
Now stop being a grinch and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!:)

Wow... Well, since it is the Christmas season, I won't even ream you out for being scrooges. I know where you are coming from, I've been there quite a few years back after my SO dumped me. It does really put a dent in Christmas.

I don't think that it's the market causing the downer feeling, unless you have all your investments in the States... I personally just decided not to look at my financial updates my advisor sends me in the mail and to just have a good Christmas. The good investor know the market collapses when people panic, so I refuse to contribute to the panic. So I'll have to work an extra year or two or ten. Maybe things will change. We can't know the future. Just enjoy the here and now, which just so happens to be Christmas.

I've decided not to go overboard with the gifts to loved ones this year, just what is normal. And I've decided that due to alot of people who are feeling down, to really make an effort to step up the Charity to help spread the Christmas Cheer! So in the words of a fictitious holiday symbol of giving and cheer based off of a real saint which we could all learn from... Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!

For the past few years, it never feels like Christmas to me until Christmas Eve. I think a lot of it has to do with the holiday being suppressed because of political correctness.

Well, when you get told to find yourself a new job outside of the company you have worked for 15 years with at the start of this week, it does put a damper on the whole Christmas thing. That being said, I am certainly going to be trying to be in the spirit in the next few days.
