Wow... Well, since it is the Christmas season, I won't even ream you out for being scrooges. I know where you are coming from, I've been there quite a few years back after my SO dumped me. It does really put a dent in Christmas.
I don't think that it's the market causing the downer feeling, unless you have all your investments in the States... I personally just decided not to look at my financial updates my advisor sends me in the mail and to just have a good Christmas. The good investor know the market collapses when people panic, so I refuse to contribute to the panic. So I'll have to work an extra year or two or ten. Maybe things will change. We can't know the future. Just enjoy the here and now, which just so happens to be Christmas.
I've decided not to go overboard with the gifts to loved ones this year, just what is normal. And I've decided that due to alot of people who are feeling down, to really make an effort to step up the Charity to help spread the Christmas Cheer! So in the words of a fictitious holiday symbol of giving and cheer based off of a real saint which we could all learn from... Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!
