It was a different world when I was growing up in the 70s. If it was an older kid bullying someone, they usually got put in their place by a kid their own age. If the bully and the kid were the same age, you were expected to solve your own problems. Being one of the few brown kids in a whiter than white elementary school, I got picked on a lot. My folks told me their only words and not to let it get to me but if it escalated to a physical confrontation I had permission to defend myself. I lost just as many fights as I won but nobody ever let fights get out of hand and when one kid said they give that was it and you grudgingly shook hands.

I’m still young but I remember seeing the change during my days in high school from man to man vs this revenge experience where a fight was never really “over”.

I was under the impression things overall were getting better with students and the “caring” side of things. Perhaps I was wrong.

And, sorry for your racism experiences. Race is such a weak argument to make fun of someone. If someone has a problem that’s one thing, but it being based on colour is just pathetic.

I remember being shocked at my first day of university that people were actually civil towards one another there. Quite a change after high school. This was early 2000's.
I found it the same way when I joined the RCAF. Not one time did I ever feel bullied. Some are still good friends, we talk often, and get together when we can. Most of those men and women were truly tough, yet they were all calm, never bullied, and yet if they had wanted to they could fight, but fighting was a last resort to them, and only if someone else started it.

Even the concept of different races is outdated. There’s minimal genetic differences amongst humans. The difference we see is merely a difference in phenotype expression.

There’s more genetic difference amongst penguins who appear to look identical. And we don’t see them fighting amongst each other.

Is that like the rich vs the poor, east siders vs west. Newly immigrated to old. I's say its more of a class distinction between them, maybe idealogy too....

Look left. Way left.
Hmmmmm..... I'm a bit confused.

Sue a school board......last I can recall, parents/guardians are responsible for the actions of minors.
Maybe those without the skills or energy should not breed. These days, schools, social services and the police are expected to raise the kids for them. Take responsibility and raise your bloody offspring!

Yep. And then I read your posts in the election thread and you come across as such a supporter of all things Liberal. I’m trying to figure out how suing a school board into bankruptcy is going to help with, or remotely matches, your Liberal agenda?
Sometimes you have to cut off the finger to save the hand. If the school board is sued into bankruptcy, it will hopefully make the hundereds of other school boards in the country finally do something about bullying.

When I went to school we respected the teachers and the principal. If I was bullied I fought back to make sure it didn't happen again. I did come home with bruises and bloody nose.
My dad would ask me if I was in a fight at school and did I fight back.
If I didn't fight back he would say ....don't come crying to me. Now eat your supper.
That's how I was raised as well Lo-ki.
I was allowed to defend myself, or others ...who got picked on by someone bigger or older.
I got tossed from school more than once for it, but never once did I pick a fight.
