I miss my dog that passed away a little while ago, the NHL and idiot players can all go fk themselves!
and what does your dog passing away have to do with missing the NHL?
is that to tug on heartstrings, Hunka? it's why you're not very popular around here…
acting good-hearted but deep down lurks a condescending douchebag.

anyway, the NHL and idiot players feel the same way about you.

they get my vote.

Noticed im watching more football lately. I never use to watch much hockey unless it's the playoffs.
Then you are the perfect example of a kind of bandwagon fan. The other kind being the ones who only watch when the team is winning.

I don't care about the NHL anymore the only way I could see myself watching a full game is if the Montreal Canadians make the Stanley cup finals.
I am starting to doubt that it will happen again in my lifetime.

I am a die hard Habs fan but the NFL season has taken most of my attention and probably still would even if it was on. There is still plenty of good hockey with the Giants and the local BCHL teams to enjoy. Plus the World Juniors. So jacked up for that!!!! :D
I concur.

Poll finds 58 per cent of Canadians don't care if NHL dispute is settled

By Brad Ziemer, Vancouver Sun December 18, 2012 3:02 PM

VANCOUVER - A new poll suggests the majority of Canadians don't care whether the two sides in the National Hockey League labour dispute reach an agreement.

The poll, conducted Dec. 11-16 by NRG Research Group and Peak Communications, surveyed 801 individuals in six regions across Canada.

Respondents were asked the following question: "Do you think the NHL lockout will be settled in the next couple of weeks; in the new year in time for a shortened season to be played; not until it's too late for games to be played this season; or don't you care?"

Fifty eight per cent of respondents said they did not care. Only five per cent thought a deal could be done in the next couple of weeks and the season would start up in 2012, while eight per cent thought a deal could be done in the new year in time for a shortened season to be played. Twenty-five per cent believe it is too late for any kind of season to be salvaged. The remaining four per cent either did not know or refused to answer.

"I was a little bit surprised how many people said I don't really care what they do," Brian Owen, CEO and founder of NRG Research Group, said in an interview Tuesday. "Fifty-eight per cent is a pretty good number.

"My conclusion is that the fan base is a narrower segment of the (Canadian) population than I had initially thought and that maybe the assumption that Canada is hockey-mad applies to maybe 25 per cent of the population as opposed to 100 per cent of the population."

Owen said the poll result can not be encouraging news for the NHL or its players.

"When 58 per cent of the population say they don't care, there is a high level of indifference and the people responsible for the game have to be aware that potentially could grow if they don't get this thing solved."

A survey of 801 people provides results with a confidence interval of plus or minus 3.5 per cent 19 times out of 20.

NRG Research Group is a public affairs and market research company, with offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg.

Actually you are wrong with that assesment. I started watching the canucks in the early 80s and they rarely made the playoffs during those years. After this lockout i started watching other sports like soccer, football etc. The two games i watched live where free at the pacific coliseum while growing up. I guess in your book youre not a real fan unless theres unconditional support. Id rather be spending more of my hard earned money n time pooning. Funny thing is when i could afford the heavy prices for tickets...they are on strike. Youre going to find alot more loyal fans going elsewhere.

Then you are the perfect example of a kind of bandwagon fan. The other kind being the ones who only watch when the team is winning.

I have Respect for Don Fehr. I have no respect for Gary because of what he's done to solidify his power and locus of control within the NHL office. He had all the internal voting rules changed. He now only needs support of a few teams within the BOG to continue his mandate. Ed Snider from Philly and Jefferies from Boston the two heads of the BOG are the ones IMHO that they need to be most critical about since they put their own personal gain above the league.
Why do you think the NHL went with NBC and the Versus channel rather than signing a US deal with ESPN a deal that would have been better for hockey.

Look into that riddle will ya let me know how it turns out for you.
These guys are in control of the league and running the league meanwhile filling their pocketbooks in the process IMHO.
You could not be more wrong. It takes 75% of the BOG to veto Bettman. Not two owners to support him. The reason he convinced the BOG to change the constitution after the 94-95 lockout, when the NHL wanted a salary cap, was because wealthy teams (Toronto, Detroit, Philly, NY) broke ranks. Bettman had the constitution changed to prevent a few from hijacking a league negotiation. Why would you disrespect someone for doing his job?

Have you even met Donald fehr? I ask because youre using the word respect and he's just doing a job. I havent seen anything amazing done by don fehr with mlb or the nhl.

Junior hockey, University hockey and I'll be watching the world juniors of course! NHL could care less. Short term it really doesn't affect me or what I do. Summed up best as Billionaires bitching over the cost of drapes and furnishings for their offices with their Million dollar employees..

They have No concept of the fans or the people who scrape forth a living working for them. Most of these a-holes run teams in buildings that were built by taxpayers money and sweetheart dealt away. Paid for by the fans and corporate support.

Do I miss the NHL Not really. Will it be back? I hope not this year. Too fking busy as it stands..lol I do however, miss seeing players and people I know come in and out of the city. That's about it
Wow Badger I am so impressed. You know that business better than most. I respect your comments. You confirm what I thought. Over here many people do not know what the nhl is? The world goes on. So I do not feel like that the world is any less a place. I hope that when they come back they cut incomes and they give back to the fans.

Yah I have jumped on the bandwagon of not paying one cent to the NHL, Games, Jerseys, Pay Per View and even games on regular cable.

Only way to stop this friken nonsense every five years is to hit their bottom line. Empty arenas, no PPV or TV revenue and no merchandise sales will give them a wake up call that the real fans are fed up with this arguing over $X Million. Enough already.

These guys (Bettman and Fehr) are taking the league down the shitter.

Not that I care,
but things could get ugly.
Im not really up on it because I don't care, but they are trying for a desertification of the union or something.
So the players can sue the league or owners.

Some one predicted we could go two years with out the nhl if they go down this road.

Not that I care, but doesn't it show just how stupid they are,
Is any one making any money while this is going on.

And dragging the nhl through the mud, how many jersey's are we going to buy etc and 100 dollars plus tickets.

With all of your businesses Dickson you must understand that if the business model doesn't work you have to change it. The NHL owners aren't any different than any other business owner. The players are no different than any other union member (other than relative wealth). One will give in eventually. It's business Dickson. Nothing more. Who will cut income remains to be seen but I'm betting management doesn't in this particular labour dispute. The players have a limited shelf life. Most owners made their money elsewhere and continue to do so.

Different business models work for different businesses. I know nothing of the entertainment business so I can not comment. Badger lives that life so I respecthis insight. I learned a long time ago to respect people who live it.

As a guy who has been in labor disputes before,

When it goes on past its due date, its not about money any more.

Its about control, its about long term and who is in control and who is going to set the direction in which the company is going in.

And from my perspective just a wage earner,
The company always wins. Its there baby there never going to let the average worker dictate to them which direction there company is going to take.
Workers have a say over working conditions and wages, that is it.
not in steering the company.

Even though the players are millionairs there no different then me, just doing a job.
