Does anyone here miss the nhl?

I unfortunately miss the fucking NHL! I'm going to miss them even more as the NFL season is done in just over a month from now. With our long depressing winters its become a part of my winter routine.
I watched four hockey games this weekend.
Just family, kids and friends,
Its fun watching the little guys, there skill level you notice picks up week to week,
And then the bigger boys.
All it costs me is a cup of tims.
One arena if you give the right person a wink and a smile. You will get something in your coffee.

I dont miss the NHL and as far as I am concearned the millionaire hockey
players the feel they are so hard done by....the players who get paid
disgusting amounts of money to play a game and get to travel all
over both the USA and Canada for free to play the game can
get stuffed up the ass with a pineapple or they can piss up a rope(their choice)
Totally fucks my brain that players that only make the league minimum salary
have cause to whine about a job that lets them visit cities such as Boston/Chicago
Philidelphia and the like as part of their job whilst getting paid very well...ask the
average tradesman if he would be happy to get $750,000 a year to do his job
and get to visit the cities I mentioned for free and he would be bending over backward
and saying THANK YOU.
Overpaid crybabies that have an attitude of entitlement and it comes down to 1
contract that got the ball rolling....the disgustingly over paid contract signed
to the biggest crybaby of them all...Eric "glass head" Lindross..as soon as he signed that contract all of the proven NHL players wanted more money and that started to chain of dominoes falling.
Fuck the greedy players.....I pretty much have no interest in the NHL anymore
but on the bright side for Vancouver fans it is another year in Luongo's contract
that gets toasted :thumb:

Well there was a study about how sex toys sales have gone way up for canadians since the nhl strike.
I am a die hard Habs fan but the NFL season has taken most of my attention and probably still would even if it was on. There is still plenty of good hockey with the Giants and the local BCHL teams to enjoy. Plus the World Juniors. So jacked up for that!!!!

Nothing you are stating is anything new. To the avrg fan they just want to see hockey being played.
With this many lock outs over Bettman's tenure it's apparent to me they need to nuke it and start from scratch. NHL has basically shot themselves in the foot by not trying to get a solid deal done last time and now are trying to squeeze more juice out of the lemon this time. Bettman needs to go. His growth into the Southern USA has been a failure because American's will only support winners. Look at the Dallas Stars. They have had a good team over the past decade but are not consistent and have not had a consistent fan base. Same with all the Southern teams. Every Canadian team and every Northern USA team has been successful even through the lean years. All the Southern teams have only been marginally successful when they had a less than stellar record.
Move failing southern teams to Quebec City, Saskatoon,and Hamilton and the NHL bottom line will improve through the fan base. Doesn't matter about the TV revenues because they are basically non existent now.
Seriously, they need to scale back the salaries and the owners need to scale back their expected return on investment. It is just not there as they think it is.
Put your hands up if you think giving a guy like Luongo $7M a year was a big mistake? Look at the Leafs and the huge contracts given over there and Jerome Igilna getting $7M in Calgary. The list could get really quite long with the over paid non performers in the NHL.
They all need to start from scratch and make it a performance based salary plus bonuses for making playoffs, etc etc.

That's been my biggest point - you wanna earn the big bucks? You play your fucking heart out, and make big money from incentives. The baseball salaries disgust me - no player is ever worth 25 million a season, I don't give a rat's ass who they are...
