Considering the true nature of what addiction is, I wouldn't think 'addicted to escorts' is a real thing in a general sense... Perhaps the examining the implications behind someone's habitual need to visit escorts could explain why someone seeks the constant affections of an escort. Like:
- Are you a middle-age guy grasping at youth by hiring a provider that's young?
- Are you lonely?
- Do you like having that <thing> done to you/for you that no other regular woman would do under normal circumstances?
- Just need that excitement in your life.
Otherwise, addictive behaviours relating to this 'hobby' is something that is inherently damaging your well being, like:
- Not using a condom, or become ignorant of a provider's health condition, or your own.
- Exposing too much of your personal information, doing away with discretion.
- Or allowing yourself to be dragged into a providers personal problems, thinking you get freebies.
- Not doing enough diligence on the providers 'age' or your own legal standings.
- Not self-aware of your surroundings, prone to be caught in public places.

If true addiction is defined by how the behaviour changes your brain, by releasing dopamine etc…, then I’d say that escorts aren’t the addiction. The addiction is to having an orgasm. How you achieve it is a different ballgame. It's definitely more pleasurable to have sex with a gorgeous woman (hopefully more than one) but there are self service options when that’s not possible.

Could it be an addiction? Yes. But it would be considered a sex addiction. As mentioned above, the reasons make a difference, as does the frequency. If there’s a feeling of compulsion, that you feel the need to book again soon for the experience, and it is detrimental to other areas of your life - definitely signs that it may be addictive behaviour. I suspect a lot of people come up with justifications for their behaviour to avoid it being considered an addiction.
If you are using it as an excuse to avoid healthy romantic relationships or even female friendships than its a crutch . Since this type of addiction is more like gambling in that it does not have any adverse effects on your brain & body the way drugs and alcohol do , than the quickest tell is if you are draining significantly more from your personal finances that you know you can afford to , situations such as putting yourself in debt.
Also of course if you are not fulfilling your work or family / community obligations because of obsession w the hobby.
id say if its the only way you can get laid its also a crutch.
