I really really enjoy doing massage appointments. This is why, once I sorted out my school schedule and figured out how to make it work, I decided to continue offering them (rather than just say my time is worth $XXX/hr no matter what). BUT massage clients are consistently unreliable. They are the only clients I have ever had no-show on me and probably make up 75% of my advanced notice cancellations.
It seems silly to ask for a deposit on a $150 appointment but what is a girl to do? How do I ensure these guys are serious about their appointment? I never had a problem during the month and a half I didn't offer this and was only doing fs at $500/2hr. Everyone complains about high prices but then when I offer a lower priced service this happens.
Do you think it is reasonable of me then to request a small deposit from new clients? I don't want to turn away people that think this is a little too much but it is really ridiculous to have 20-30% of my clients a week (that would be 2 clients) no show on me (or cancel with less than a day's notice) and I am starting to seriously reconsider offering these reduced fee appointments because it is turning into such a hassel (and honestly starting to piss me off)...especially when I spend the same hour getting ready as I do for the fs appointments and travel for the same 70min that I have to travel to get to my incall, and spend the same half hour getting the place ready and lighting candles. When the alternative is to just not accept that appointment at all and instead take a higher paying appointment that WILL show up.
Input? Opinions? I like my R&T clients quite a bit but I don't like the ones that don't have enough respect for me to keep their appointment.
