how many of you are ok with giving the deposit vs meeting with your references cleared. i have been trying to meet some indies with my references with no luck. they keep insisting on deposits. i see many newbies in vancity with request for deposit. share your experience. one of them had mentioned screening and deposit and still she kept insisting on the deposit.

The whole thing is really quite simple - the SPs make the rules, and you follow them, or take your business elsewhere.
Don’t inquire with a lady that requires a deposit if you can’t afford to lose it (99% of the time it isn’t an issue with well known ladies)…
As with any other application, you can't use your mother as a reference.
SP put “deposit” in her ad.

deposit = provider wanting to know you'll actually show up
reference = provider wanting to know you won't kill her
reference = provider wanting to know you won't kill her
This topic has been beaten to death. Yes, some ladies will steal the deposit, stick to established providers with a reputation. When those ladies keep it, post about it here, like the most recent issue.
If you send a deposit to a random on LL, you are asking for trouble. Better off to just pick someone else.
