I used to drink a lot of soda. 2L a day was not unheard of when I was in my 20s, but in recent years, I cut out 99% of it to the point where it's a rarity. (Sometimes a rum & coke at a bar, or maybe if I get some fast food combo, that sort of thing.)
I do not really miss it. I dislike carbonated water by itself, so that Sodastream stuff is really not something I like. Ditto for Club Soda.
It's just plain water and ocaisionally juice now. Gotta stay hydrated, and I found out that soda (being so sugary) is not the best thirst quencher anyway. If I want fruity flavour, I at fruit. Even a few drops of lemon or lime juice in a jug of water can make it tasty.
On the other hand, cutting other kinds of sugar out of my breakfast has proven much harder. Coffee is my caffeine sole source now, but needs sugar to kill the bitterness. I don't drink very much coffee, though; I never was one of those people with a coffee or tea in hand all day long.
I you are giving pop up,, I think you'll find it is not very hard. It does not have to be 100% cold turkey, but the main thing is stop buying it at the grocery store. In the end, you won't miss it.
Get one of those Brita water filters to put in the fridge so you have some cold filtered water on hand, unless your fridge does that function built-in.
