I will have to disagree with you there alin, regarding the sps who advertise here not advertising on CL? I think I can count on one hand the number of paid sps who have not or do not use it. And some of them most likely used it a couple of years ago, like Odette, but not now as they may have found this and other venues for ads.

People should keep in mind, before being so quick to judge about the use of free ads, whether or not that sp even has the $$ for advertising. Paper ads cost 200-250 or more per month. Internet ads require some sort of quality pics, which they also may not have the $$ for. 6 months or so of free advertising, and to see whether or not they even like this business, don't you think that makes much more sense than spending money not yet earned or available?

But I agree also with dood, keep in mind that CL is one internet site. There are many others, and you can bet they will be here next as well. but like the article quoting the RCMP folks say, they had no legal right to use to stop CL from having the ads since it is legal.

In looking at the site, I think the best place for advertisers to use and people to find ads, is under services in the therapeutic section. I think that is mostly where the US sps went first, and actually was where erotic ads used to be placed until all the massagers complained about sp ads and a new section was created. I would also say people should complain to CL, inundate them with messages, emails, etc, and let them know there is a real boycott of er users lol, similar to the student boycott, and see if there is an impact.

Hopefully the asian spammers won't find therapuetic and will stick to the beauty section. That would be terrific, since those ads are too spammy. Hopefully being in that section will make them happy to have all to themselves.

I doubt it - Craigslist isn't that important in the scheme of things and the ladies will find other avenues for self promotion - the downside is they may need to pay a fee for such promotions....

i found no harm by posting in cl as an indy provider, to find new clients it was free and i have met some great regulars!

Should work if it can handle the traffic once the word gets out

If they are smart they will charge to place an ad, that would dramatically slow down the spam and multiple posting frinzey.

I know. That's part of the reason why it's so absolutely ridiculous for supposed intelligent and educated people to think that shutting down CL is some kind of solution or will be a positive change. It's so, so, so stupid. Why are people so stupid? I don't think I can handle any more stupidity! Sheesh.
