uh...Edmonton.
....just the little reminders you have gotten now and again. We've all got them...the little things that sort of speak to what grounds you, moves you, or otherwise compells you.

For me, it was a little ditty in the form of a question....and I don't recall who first related it to me. But, I will relate it to you without reference to origin....since my memory sux.

"Imagine you are at the top of the World Trade Center....and a tightrope extends over to the other side"

O.k....even though time has passed and they no longer exist...at the time of telling, they did. The poignancy of that moment, is not relevant.

"Now, here's $1,000,000 in cash. Do you want it?"

Yes, please,

"Good, thought you might. Simply cross the tightrope, the bag of cash is tied to the other end"

Oh....well...ummmmm.....geeee....not sure.

"Alright, I understand your reluctance. Now...look over there again"

And, so I look.

"Your daughter is dangling from the edge of that tower. If you don't cross that rope, she falls"

So, that's a no brainer. We all go on that one. We've all got the ones we love. Even the toughest and most heartless. It's but a front, we all have our priorities.

But, I've said it before, and will say it again. Thank gawd for the competent lasses who inhabit this board capable of providing distraction.

hugs,

eddie.

I try to cross the tightrope but fall (afraid of heights) and die.
She dies soon after because I didn't make it.
Should I stay or should I go now?
I don't think it's such a cool scenario. Do you have it right?

Also, what about all the people who have no close relatives or friends?
There are many like this unfortunately.

Sorry, but I found the post to be odd.

I suppose it is odd. However, at no point was I attempting to paint it as a "cool scenario". It is nothing less than the most frightening scenario I could ever imagine. For me, the point of that little story is that people rise up for the right reasons. I am a firm believer that there is an innate goodness in us all.

Yes, Eddie like this post is a bit "odd". But that's what makes him "cool!"

Thanks Eddie!:)
no, thank you. It's tough being odd....nahhhhhhhh.....lol.

Eddie strikes me as a dude that's as real as they come. His point is that...inside we're all selfless....we just don't let it out enough. I really should do the MERL meeting sometime.
Thank you dood, that's very kind. I'm as shallow as the ponds they call lakes here in central alberta....but that was nice. As for MERL, indeed you should. Visitors from afar are given special accomodation and a free drink....or two...or three.....
