Here's a couple more books that I found useful for training:
Bailey, Covert. (1999). The Ultimate Fit or Fat. Houghton Mifflin: Boston ISBN 0-618-00204-9
Edwards, Sally. (1997). The Heart Rate Monitor Book. Fleet Feet Press: Sacramento
Both texts are old and there are probably better sources for information. Bailey's book deals with aerobic exercise and it's impact upon metabolism. Edwards book shills Polar heart rate monitors but manages to explain the value of heart rate monitoring for training/metabolic purposes.
