I am guessing they lost?....is it Indiana?...not sure, I don't follow football but I know that so many people do. And, that's cool.

So the Colt's lost?...I am guessing that messes up an undefeated streak. So lets think about that logically....wouldn't someone rail and rant about a team putting up its starters for no reason? They can't win the regular season but, as we all know, the real season starts in the playoffs. Did this loss disqualify them from the playoffs? Forgive my ignorance, I just don't know.

Presuming it does not....then I would be inclined to rest my best also. I would want them at their best when it mattered.

I am dipping my toe very carefully here for the next bit. Hunsperger, I have seen you much maligned and you have responded carefully and with some dignity in the face of that. For that, I have respect. What I do not, however, have respect for...is the instant attitude of "I hope they lose from here on in"...or however that was phrased. Come on man, you are a smart dude. Don't hope for failure, cheer success. It's a simple change but one that makes a world of difference.

We all walk a good path.

most respectfully,

eddie.

I don't have a problem with pulling their starters.

-Less chance of injury to starters.
-They let their backups get some experience.
-The #1 goal is not an undefeated REGULAR season.

Perfect season would be useless if the Colts don't finish through and win the Super Bowl. However, I'm a Philly fan so I'm hoping for my Eagles to make it all the way which includes beating the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. :)

I agree but if you saw the post game interviews, despite being a "Good Soldier" and saying the right things, Peyton Manning's tone and body language was pissed off.

Hunny is right for almost the first time in his life!

1) You have a chance to do something special no other team in history has done and you quit?
2) The Colts and NE have tried resting starters and they have blown out in the first round before.
3) You rest your starters during the bye week.
4) You owe it to the fans at home to play a full game. You wanna be pussies, do it on the road.
5) The coach threw the back up QB under the bus, pathetic
6) You give the Jets a free pass into the playoffs, one they didn't deserve.
7) "Being undefeated wasn't one of our goals?' R U Kidding me?

Bottom line is you play to win football games and entertain your fans. To quit on doing something no other team in history has done is pathetic. If what they did was a guarantee they would win the Super Bowl, I would have been all for it. It isn't and it was gutless!

Google says:
'Through the 2007 season, there have been four undefeated/untied teams in the regular season in NFL history:
1) 1934 Chicago Bears: 13-0
2) 1942 Chicago Bears: 11-0
3) 1972 Miami Dolphins: 14-0
4) 2007 New England Patriots: 16-0
Of these four teams only the 1972 Miami Dolphins won an NFL Championship/Super Bowl and finished the entire season undefeated. The other three teams lost the NFL Championship/Super Bowl game. '

but that's the thing...

they did something nobody else has done...

someone wins the Super Bowl every year, but only one team has done it undefeated...

that makes them unique...

and as Dizzy Dean used to say...

"if you can do it, it ain't bragging"...

as Hubba said, the Colts had a chance and they quit...

that says it all...

trivia question: who was the former BC Lion who was a member of that undefeated team and Super Bowl VII MVP...

Not sure why that is relevant? Did New England lose because they went 16-0 or did they lose because they ran into a better football team on the day? That was a great game the Giants played and the fact I won big time while I was in Vegas made it even better :) Bring on Super Bowl in Vegas baby! Can't wait!

Oh my......

Jake Scott.
Nice one ferris!

Scott began his professional career in 1969 in the Canadian Football League as a defensive back and kick returner with the BC Lions. He was drafted by the Dolphins in seventh round of the 1970 NFL Draft, where in his rookie year, he made five interceptions for 112 yards and made one touchdown in a punt return. The following year, he recorded seven interceptions and 318 punt return yards, assisting the team to Super Bowl VI, which they lost 24-3 to the Dallas Cowboys. Scott recorded a 21-yard punt return in the game.

Scott was a key member of the 1972 Miami Dolphins undefeated season, and finished that season as Super Bowl MVP of Super Bowl VII, recording two interceptions and 63 return yards in the Dolphins' 14-7 win over the Washington Redskins including one in the fourth quarter.[1] He also played for the Dolphins in their 24-7 Super Bowl VIII win, recording a fumble recovery, 20 punt return yards, and 47 kickoff return yards in that game.

I didn't realize they were still undefeated....duhhh me. They are resting starters while the chance to win the whole shebang without a loss still rests in the balance? Then, I say, shame on you. Your adoring public wishes/wants/needs to have its public figures perform in a manner beyond what they know themselves can do. We all need hero figures...that's why we stay in touch with our parents. Having said that, for those who are famous for the right reasons...its just the nature of media....you put yourself out there...and the media will scrutinize you to ensure your claims are valid.

The downfall of Tiger hurt me. I was a fool and had him up on the same pedestal as Gretzky. Gretzky I'm sure...was not perfect. But he sure as hell didn't get caught out and so...that made him perfect to me....perhaps his handlers were simply better. But, I doubt it, I am guessing Gretzky obtained what he wanted and enjoyed it...want what you have rather than want what you don't. You pissed me off Tiger and I won't watch another round with you involved in it. I say this emphatically...fuck you. You are just another player now.

most respectfully,

eddie.

that is true...

but keep in mind, no team that has gone undefeated has ever lost...

they won two more, but they lost the one that mattered...

I knew once they tried to micromanage their destiny, karma would bite them in the ass...

and it did...

sweet:cool:...
Had nothing to do with Karma, they lost to a better football team.
