Coleen Christie Out at CTV Vancouver !

Gord Lansdell of Northwest Broadcasters says reliable sources are informing him of the release of veteran news anchor Coleen Christie from CTV Vancouver. Her profile has been removed from the station’s website. She had been with CHEK-TV Victoria before moving in 1997 to what was then called VTV Vancouver, and has most recently (since 2001) hosted the 5 p.m. news and has been a regular fill-in anchor in other time spots.

Also reported released is CTV’s Okanagan reporter Kent Molgat (pictured below) and a Kelowna cameraman. Molgat’s profile has also been removed from the station’s website. He has been with their Okanagan Bureau since 2008.

My favourite news caster for the past twenty years it seems has been uncerimoniously let go from CTV! Guess I am switching to Global now. Hope she stays in Vancouver and resurfaces soon.

Totally agree with you on that one but for some reason she's got her supporters. But then again if PJ Stock can be relieved of his duties, I am sure Tamara Taggert can be as well.

Can't stand her either. I never accepted her as a news anchor or as a weather person prior to that.

Only time I listened to her was when she used to come to TSN 1040 afternoon show with Don Taylor and B Mac. I enjoyed those guys exchanging somewhat ... dirty jokes while she was on. Otherwise, she was ... meh!

Broadcasting is cyclical and they do change the players in Radio and TV. Global had its house cleaning last year with Steve Darling and Randene Neill (apparently a fan favourites) were let go. Rock 101 changed up its personnel by getting Willy to do the morning drive.


I never did get the Tamara Taggert fascination people had with her. Purely fluff IMO.

Agree with the above posts about Tamara Taggert. She looks like she's sitting on a pointed stick. TSN 1040 used to alternate bringing her and Mike Killeen on the air to talk about what was going to be on the 6:00 news. Worst mistake bringing her on. The sports guys knew more current events than her.

Sad times really for all news media. The Province newspaper just let their sports editor go along with a lot of long tenured reporters like Howard Tsumura & Marc Weber. TSN 1040 just announced they fired Scott Rintoul and Peter Schaad who were the play by play voices of the BC Lions and Whitecaps.

James Cybulski (Spell check!!) is working on assignments with News 1130! He started with TEAM(now TSN) 1040. On a different note, I wonder whatever happened to Dan (Only I Care How Many Shows I have Done) Russell.

I was a fan of Dan Russell. He's semi retired now. He was let go from CKNW and then tried to do his show on AM 650. He actually bought the air time himself and then sold sponsorship/ ads to cover the costs. I think he realized that many people didn't follow him down the radio dial (too many options now) and that it was a money losing venture and he ended up pulling the plug after a few months.

Back in the day- late 80s early 90s- TT hung out with a bunch of us that worked some of the local clubs. She liked the boys in the bands and us doormen.
She was a lot of fun- never had a problem with her.
