I really feel for her loss but I'm not sure she is going about her protest in the best or most effective way.

Let's say Cindy's mother is still alive (I dont know if she is or not) and her mother is so worried about Cindy's well being she shoots her to keep her from protesting.

Should she respect Cindys right to protest even though she is worried sick that people have been killed for protesting?
Does her fear and motherly concern justify ignoring Cindy's right to live her life as she see's fit?

I've had differing opinions with people I care about and I have voiced my opinions and concerns but never SHOT anyone to get them to do it MY way.

He was an adult, she told him how concerned and worried she was, she also suggested ways for him to stay home and he as an adult made his choice and decided to go.

I have a hard time believing that you have NEVER tried to push your opinion on some one else. Everybody does it.

I would not shoot my kids (Don't own a gun). But if I thought they were making a decision that put their life in SERIOUS jeoprady (probably more than going to Iraq as a soldier) than I might just take extreme measures to keep them from dying, including going to jail for something like harming them. IF, in the end I was damn sure they would be safe.

No I tend to take the non-neanderthal approach and reason with people.

If they are an adult like her son and if they are still determined after hearing my opinion then I step back and respect their choice.

And NO I wouldnt harm someone I loved in order to force them into doing things my way!

I have seen several reports of soldiers who came home from Vietnam or Iraq or wherever after serving 1,2,3 tours of duty only to be killed a week after they return home in some dumb accident or brawl at a bar.


I realize she was concerned and worried, he was her kid.... probably still a "little boy" in her mind.
But the fact is he was an adult and he made a decision.... he was willing to go to Iraq knowing damn well that it's a dangerous place and he could get killed.
