CIM Conference

There were a few threads on reddit with people asking what tonight's Vancouver fireworks were all about and the answer was that today was the culmination of the CIM conference at the convention centre.

Hahaha I walked past Canada Place today and saw the badges. I couldn't say anything as I was in mixed company but I had a little chuckle to myself.

The smart business ladies know what conferences and conventions are in town and who books what. Mining, dentists, maybe even the FIFA World Congress, and cruise ship passengers, they know who books and who doesn't. Not just sex work, but restaurants, bars, even barber shops and retail shops all benefit from the influx of people downtown. Vancouver, Toronto, Vegas, New York, these kind of conventions and meetings can really fill up someone's calendar or result in crickets if they aren't the types to indulge in a little carnal fun.

Most of the events don't pick a name that's so on the nose, but hey, might as well have some fun with it. Maybe Vancouver can host the Canadian Urban Municipalities convention (CUM) or the Dental Industry Convention (DIC), or something else with the right double entendre.
