What's ignorant or stereotypical about it? Bears being poached for their gall bladders is rampant in Canada these days and the only reason is for Chinese medicines. In Asia there are virtually no wild bears left.
When you make comments that are not based on any fact, or you highly exaggerate something you heard in the media, than that is ignornant and sterotypical. Go get a dictonary and look up those words if you have one, which I doubt.
In Asia, there are at least a few bears left. Look at Western Europe... are there any real wild animals left that are bigger than a rabbit???? What is your point??
I honestly doubt that it is rampant, and I doubt that you or anyone else have any real statistical figures on it. What is true is the hundreds of bears that are shot every year that wander into neighbourhoods looking for a quick meal in someone's garbage.
Second, there has never been any Chinese herbalist ever charged or convicted for trying to buy gall bladders. If there was, show me a newspaper article. The people that are doing the shooting are a bunch of dumb rednecks just trying to see if they can make a few bucks and end up getting caught by the cops.
How about all the "big game hunting" Americans that come up here, and pay big bucks to be a big man and shoot a bear. They have it skinned and than
usually leave the remains to rot. Plus, they usually pick the biggest male or female, thus seriously affecting the gene pool. Are these guys any better?
