Yes, it does and I seriously didn't know that. (Being born many decades ago has its disadvantages).

Someone gave me a cover for my iphone 5 and I gladly put it on about two weeks ago. It is pretty nice looking (but mostly likely it was made in China). For last two weeks, I had nothing but frustration because the wifi signal at my house stopped reaching my bedroom. Same thing happened at work too but I didn't pay much attention to it because we made some changes to our internet and phone services at the office.

I called Shaw, they agreed to replace the modem and even talked me into upgrading to their newest and much faster plan. I got the new modem from them yesterday and still nothing changed. Co-incidentally, last night before going to bed I used my laptop to watch a movie and it worked fine!!

This morning it just occurred to me that may be it is the new cover! I checked online and there are many posts about it. I took the cover off immediately and voila !!!!! I guess it was the metallic back of the cover that was causing the problem. A nice start to my Halloween!

I just thought I should share it even though I am sure many of you already know it.

on your phone go into settings , then wi fi, there will be your network and your network 5g, make sure you are on the 5g one, and all will be fine, cover or not.

Geezus what phone do you have TO?

LTE or 4 G is the current operating standard.

T8E who makes the cover? Seems strange a cover is effecting your WFi. I just want to read about this one.

Here is a proof that it is a fact.

Seems like the problem occurs mostly in metal covers. :) The moment I took the cover off it was fine. After that I put my old cover on, and again, it was fine. To make sure, I put the metal cover on and signal became inconsistent.

There are plenty of discussion on this topic available. Only problem was that I never knew!! Ignorance is not always a bliss.

ALSO: and this is important.

I rarely use the date available on my phone. At home and at work, I almost always use WiFi signal. I keep the date plan only for emergencies. Guess what, last afternoon, out of desperation, I turned my cellular data on and ............ My LTE signal was not working either. In fact, that sort of helped me realize what the problem was.

So LTE or WiFi, in my case, the metal case affected both signals.

I phone 6. Its a wi fi setting not network setting. I was having issues with download speed, so i called shaw and they told me about the 5g wi fi setting, zero problems since.

Wait wasn't this a reoccurring problem with the iPhone 5? Like there was a new story several years back where people complained that their iPhone signel was blocked when they put a case on it.
