Video of a tense confrontation between two Vancouver pet store workers and a man who left his dog in a hot car has gone viral online, racking up more than 100,000 views in a matter of hours.

Jennifer Thi said a concerned bystander walked in the Bosley’s Pet Food Plus where she works on Monday to report there was a French bulldog in distress in the parking lot.

“Upon looking at the dog, I could tell it was overheating,” Thi said in a Facebook post. “The windows in the car were opened half an inch and the dog was panting heavily, drooling, and was trying to be as close to the crack of fresh air as possible.”

Thi said the bystander had already gone into a neighbouring 7-Eleven and a hair salon searching for the dog’s owner, but couldn’t find him.

Concerned about the animal’s safety, Thi said she decided to try opening one of the car doors. When it turned out to be unlocked, she decided to bring the dog into her store and wait for the owner to pick it up.

That’s when the owner identified himself. After the employees told him he shouldn’t have left his dog in the car, an angry outburst ensued, part of which was captured on video.

“I was gone for five f---ing minutes,” the man can be seen yelling in the footage, which Thi shared on social media. “I left to grab a f---ing sandwich, I come out here and sit for five minutes. You think you’re f---ing doing a good job, huh? You think you’re cool?”

The confrontation continues even after the man gets into his car and starts to back out of the parking lot.

“Never open someone’s f---ing random door, you understand?”

Thi said she decided to share the video to raise awareness about the danger of leaving animals in hot cars.

According to the SPCA, leaving animals in cars can seriously harm or even kill them – even if the car is parked in the shade with the windows partly open.

The SPCA warns that a dog can be overwhelmed by heat in as little as 10 minutes.

Signs of heatstroke in dogs include lack of coordination, salivation, convulsions or vomiting, weakness or muscle tremors, exaggerated panting, red tongue and lips, and a rapid or erratic pulse.

Anyone who sees a dog in a hot car that might be in trouble is encouraged to record the vehicle’s information and ask nearby stores to page customers.

If the animal is in distress, witnesses can contact the SPCA cruelty hotline at 1-855-622-7722.

Don't idiots like this know that someone is probably filming his rant and will most likely post it on social media? I wonder how he can't comprehend how stupid he looks by saying the crap he's saying? I wonder if regrets his actions now but then again douche bags like him probably don't give a crap!

Yah it's amazing people just don't get it. Think it was Global who had a Vet inside a closed up vehicle on a + 30 day. Ten minutes later the Vet was incoherent and needed medical attention.

I'm a dog owner and don't get me wrong but we tend to overlook children in a closed vehicle but not dogs.

Best punishment is to lock up the parents in a car on a hot day for 15 minutes. They won't forget the experience!

Shocking part is that people still don't get it. This subject is being talked about everyday. Unfortunately, you can still idiots leaving their pets and kids in the car on hot days.

Not just that, I still see people smoking while their kids are with them inside the vehicle. Yea, just when you think you have seen it all, there is another idiot waiting around the corner to prove you wrong.

Check your closet..:)
BC= Nanny State

I remember when you use to be able to bring your dog just about anywhere.
Now it seems that Pet Stores are the only ones that pets are welcome.
I have seen people getting 250$ fines for leaving their dog attached to a tree while getting a coffee to go at Starbuck or Tim.

I imagine the only "lesson" that guy took away from the experience was to remember to lock his car doors next time. Sad. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd reflect on it and think "maybe they have a point."

My same thought, I was at Rona it happened last year when we saw this little dog in the car windows up. While the dog was already in 20 min and waiting for the cops to arrive, somebody was able to break into the car and we saved the dog. Cops and dog owner showed up and I was not going to give the dog back to the owner.
It was a big mess, I was yelling at the owner what a piece of shit she is doing this to that poor thing.
They should be locked in to their car for at least 30 min and find out how it feels to the dogs. Terrible

Yep, he's a real charmer :( What a moron. It's not like the pet store employee was doing anything malicious. Just trying to help. Clearly has some anger management issues. Not to mention a screw loose.

This reminds me of the CEO who was caught on video kicking dog in a elevator.

Things didn't work out so well for him.

I'm not sure that would help. I think part of the problem is these people cannot see beyond how it affects them, and an adult human can fair better in a hot car for 30 minutes than a dog or a small child. They'd probably come out of it saying we're all overreacting.

OMG! Dog locked in car! I'm so empowered to take charge! What a great human I am! Pats on the back all 'round!
That gangbanger's humiliating his girlfriend, treating her "like a dog"? That woman just slapped her boyfriend? Cops rousting a guy for sitting on the curb?
None of my business.
Pick your battles heroes, pick your battles.

I think the dude was looking for a confrontation.
He leaves his dog in the car in front of a pet store then stood around and watched as the girls tried to find the owner. He finally reacted when she opens the door to let the dog out.
The guy is sick.
