Vancouver is unlikely to suffer a subtstantial tsunami because of it's geographic location within the Straight of Georgia. We could however, experience signifigant flooding generated by large waves that would affect the lower lying areas. Richmond and Delta will be most affected.

The greatest threat from a major earthquake is liquifaction of areas comprised of ground which is peat, sand and landfill. Areas like Richmond, False Creek and Delta and large parts of the Fraser Valley will be affected Here is a link to a map showing high risk areas :http://www.geog.ubc.ca/courses/geog376/students/class05/pgbond/images/maps/liqmap.jpg

Landslides are another signifigant threat in areas with greater than 30 degree slopes.
