Not a bad signing for Nonis. 20 goal scorer with Montreal last season and will look good playing with the Sedins. Maybe not Carter, but at $1.3 M per sure a lot better value than $3M for Carter. Carter may just price himself out of the market if he's not careful.

I think Bulis will fit in just fine ... He is a better skater and hands are comparable to Anson. Now that he has some players to feed him ..expect him to be in the 30 goal range.

He played majority of the season with many lines in Montreal .. as Radek Bonk got hurt and his worst year ever... bulis stil slid around and provided some touch .. he will get a ton of pp time ...

Note: an observation and opinion .. I hate Montreal

I'm not sold on Bulis. I think this is the Canucks' hopeful signing this year as was Carter last year. He definitely has talent but has struggled with consistency in his career or, as others would term it, he's a typical European. If it works out...fantastic as pickins are gettin' slim on the free agent market. This should at least finally kill any hope that anyone still had about Carter somehow coming back. Expect Linden to be signed later this week for the minimum or just a hair over. After that, the kids from the farm will be rounding out the roster.

I liked him when he was with the Habs. He's got a tonne of speed and will challenge to be the fastest skater with the Canucks. I don't know about the hands that you speak of. He played with Koivu, Bonk then Kovalev, and could have easily had 35 goals. Last season was a contract year which naturally produced his career year. However, towards the end of the season and for a couple of playoffs games, he was a healthy scratch. Perhaps Bob Gainey knows something we don't.

In Bob we trust.

Count on it!

Here's some facts:
Pros
Bullis is 4 years younger than Carter, has better wheels, and is better defensively.

Cons
Hands of stone. Carter is at .313 goals per game and .644 points per game in his career. Bullis is at .178 GPG and .469 PPG. Bullis has scored 20 goals, exactly 20, ONCE in his career and that was during a contract year in the "new" NHL. Carter has scored 20 goals FIVE times, and at one time had 16 in 61 games.

Bullis will be a decent 3rd liner. If he makes one of the Top 2 lines, the Canucks are fucked. Anybody who says this is an upgrade is just another desperate Canucks fan.

sounds like another Richard Park ... a bullet up the ice but doesn't have
a clue what to do when he gets there ... hopefully less fragile.

Wouldn't go that far. He's bigger and stronger than Park and he's a couple years younger, but both are speedy. Bulis is a solid 2 way player and has had better stats thus far in his career including some pretty good totals in Czech during the lockout year. Last season he played mostly on the 3rd line. If he gets on the Naslund or Sedin lines, he should score 25-30 goals

At this point, the RW slots on the 1st and 2nd lines are up for grabs, so let's see if Pyatt and Bulis can fill those roles.

And if they do, the Canucks should get used to watching the playoffs from their living room. These are decent depth players, nothing more. At no time in their careers have they indicated otherwise.

I still can't believe we are paying Matt Cooke $1.5 million!

you think anyone else wants him? even at half price? we're stuck with
that guy until someone takes his head off ... and not soon enough.

the worst insult though is that he will probably be on one of the top
lines this year ...

oh well, Bert IS coming to town ... maybe he can give the loser
a nice cuff upside his head!

:)

comparing him to Richard Park pretty much sums up your hockey knowledge ..
thanks, i admitted long ago i don't know shit about hockey since Gordie Howe
retired!

but they mentioned Jan has speed (never heard of this fucker despite him being 10 years in the league ...) and Park has speed -- Jan doesn't score many goals, and neither does Park ... Jan is a big dude and Park isn't ... Jan is supposed to have 'unfullfilled potential' (read it on TSN.ca) and don't know about Park ...

feel better now?

Shall we now discuss your level of ignorance ... never mind, don't have the time!

Park:

Assets Owns sound offensive instincts, a defensive conscience and excellent quickness. Has produced at several levels.
Flaws Is small in stature and a non-factor in physical contests. Needs to find more consistency in order to be a more effective overall player.
Career potential Third line winger.

Bulid:

Assets Has a strong lower body and is difficult to knock off the puck. Is defensively responsible, skates well and complements scoring forwards well.
Flaws Needs to use his shot more. Must improve his consistency. The jury is still out on whether he can score enough to be a top-six forward.
Career potential Two-way left-winger.

Will Canucks Make the Playoffs Next Year?

I hope for you Cancuck fans they make the playoffs next year. I think their down fall started when they fired the general manager. Look at the Anaheim Ducks where they at least made it to playoffs with a new general manager.

Not entirely correct

Brian Burke was not fired, his contract was not renewed. There is a slight difference.

I agree that Burke was a great GM in Vancouver. Too bad the bonehead who's ego clashed with Burke's quit Orca Bay.

I am not too fond of Nonis. He was the bonehead who signed shithead Cooke to his ridiculous contract.

I've seen Park play ... good speed but seems to forget why he's skating ...

haven't seen Bulis play and if I did, he didn't leave an impression (have watched
Montreal play and no one impressed much ...)

I don't see how he was a 'great' GM ... he pissed a lot of players off
with his 'drive 'em to the airport' attitude ... and he pissed off other GM's
with his rants about putting together a winning team on a budget.

Mind you, he had to do that with the dipstick owner the Nucks have,
but the big contracts that he gave Bert, Jovo, and particularly Naslund (and
that idiot Clouts) were not good for the team either.

Maybe under the 'cap' he will turn out to be great ... but I don't see much
of a legacy for Vancouver from his time ...
