I was wondering what is considered "enough" time in advance for cancelling an appointment? I sometimes feel guilty if I have to cancel the same day ::embarrassed: But then I read about clients cancelling without notice. what is typically good form? Obivoulsy, realizing that the more notice the better.

As soon as you know, preferably via phone call not email (unless she is an email only sp -- if she is both, use the phone)

A good reason is "something came up, but I would like to call you again to reschedule"

A bad reason is "I decided to see someone else, but maybe when I have time I'll give you a call."

I would say etiquette dictates you let her know as soon as you know. Sometimes this might mean a last-minute cancellation, but what can you do, right? Most ladies will be fairly understanding if you are polite enough to let her know, and if you're not a chronic canceller/rescheduler.

As much time as you can give :) Things happen on both sides sometimes and cancellation or postpooning (I couldn't help it ;P ) can be inevitable. Just as you would like as much notice as possible, would we. But honestly a lat minute cancellation is 100% better than none!
