Yes or No.

Bring back Perbatory.

* This poll is for entertainment purposes only and the outcome of the poll does/does not mean Perbatory is actually coming back.

Some background info from the old perbatory (which still lives in the admin section). Drama and fights used to ensue and people argued openly about bans. The mods expressed frustration at constant nitpicking and debate, not to mention some bans that could not be posted for privacy reasons. I am interested to hear the views of the membership, the original was gone long before my time as a mod, but as noted, even if the poll is 99% yes, it doesn't mean it will come back.

I seem to remember the mods laying out their reasons for getting rid of it. If I remember correctly, not only was it more work but publicly explaining bans caused more tension as people argued/debated the decision. I guess their idea was out of sight, out of mind?

In any case sounded like they had strong feelings on it (at least at the time) and ultimately it's their call.

Edit to add: huh. Didn't see PerbMod replied already above. Sorry for the redundancy. :)

Coming from a member when perbatory existed.
I would welcome it back. It definitely was beneficial by revealing who the trolls and rude/ mean members were.

Some have a way of expressing themselves on forums and ones like us can sometimes identify those trolls if they happen to return under a new handle name. It was a way for us to help out the mods too by pm'ing them. That can still be done now without perbatory, but it was cool having it.

I think we would all agree that car accidents are a bad thing. If we had the power I think we would also all agree to collectively rid the roads of this scourge.

Yet, I have sadly realized that no matter how loudly I swear within the confines of my climate controlled SUV, I have so far had absolutely no effect on the habits and behaviours of other drivers.

Having said that, when I do happen upon an accident, I can't seem to look away.

I like perbatory.

I don't recall much arguing about banned members unless the ban was for a silly reason. Most of the time it was quite obvious why a ban was given, and the mod explanation would suffice.

I was suspended a couple of times - each time unfairly, I believed - but there was no way to argue your case, because if you dared to try to defend yourself, a mod would threaten permanent banning, which is my chief complaint about the system.

Then if you do happen to bring back perbatory make it a rule like BBF* mentions that Discussions about perbatory
will not be tolerated so to help quell the bickering and fighting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if in perbatory no pleading your case or any of that stuff.
Just be placed there and a posted reason why that person was banned and for how long.
Just keep it SIMPLE!!

That should lessen the burden of monitoring the school hallways !! Let's hope. :)

One question. Why would people be argueing about someone else being banned?
That could only have been the whiteknights or lapdogs argueing over their favourite SP being banned. Stupid shit! Let them argue and ignore it or better yet, just throw a lock on it.

Seriously folks? Do any of you actually remember fighting against the hall monitors? Or all you all the precious children they were there to protect?
You touch on a good point GH, I personally don't recall any argueing or bickering in general
forums like the lounge or in review sections about who is banned and why.

LOL!! Or maybe that was so long ago that I can't remember that far back. :D

The perbatory was important from a historical standpoint. There were a few times when a few groups of SP's and their clients did a lot of shill reviews. They also went into competitors reviews in an anti-shill fashion. It was an incredible read and did show an ugly side to the biz. Many bannings over that mess. It showed the mods did what they said they would do and acted when all the evidence was reviewed.

No doubt, highly entertaining over a morning coffee too. Also sort of puts to rest "who is missing" when they elect self banning for whatever reason.

I don't recall any posted fights over who got banned. If there were, I'm assuming they were quickly binned or done via PM.

Not everyone has BIG balls!!!

Without question it's a good thing for women to stand up for themselves. But, JUST as importantly it's a good thing for men to stand up and put their misogynistic peers in their place. That's not a sign of weakness in women. It's a sign of strength in men. Without it we get the pack mentality like a bunch of jackals.

Well said, very well said :clap2::clap2::clap2:

What does Perbatory even mean?
PERB + purgatory = PERBatory

Fake reviews were a huge problem. Good self reviews were (and are) common. There were really vicious bad reviews of ladies by other ladies as well.

There were also ladies outing guys to their families and employers.
There was a duo of really bad examples in Winnipeg. Old timers will remember them.
They outed rivals to their families, in one case they even sent a letter to an sp's child's school. I remember it because two of her other friends told me about it as well as her.
Some women here absolutely hated each other.

Drama nowadays is pretty mild.

Perbatory reminds members to behave.

As for Perbatory causing fights or disagreements, my answer is "so what". Yeah it's a little overhead for the moderators but it's a plus for the women. And let's remember, THOSE WOMEN pay for this forum. Their money keeps this place going. It just seems sometimes a lot of people forget that.
Helluva good point yvr, and in the same case as when taxes are payed in full..............are they ever.........LOL!!
Why not a little kick back to the populace here known as perbatory.

You know, too amuse the masses as it were. C'mon Perb and Fred Zed bring back what we once had before.
For old times sake. Give it a try for awhile at least and see what happens.

Bring back Perbatory, as long as you continue to post the reasons why people are suspended or banned outright. It helps both SPs and pooners avoid obnoxious and indiscreet members.
