Got double pricked yesterday, no not something kinky with Sybian and PuntMeister, third shot of Moderna and the Flu Vaccine. No major strange reaction...as with two previous Mod shots a bit of a sore arm. One thing was different though, woke up in the middle of the night shaking like a s.o.b. thought it was malaria or dreaming about Animal House toga party....just watched it the night before. Either way lasted about an hour and went away. Just my experience with third dose...

Got my booster shot 2 days ago. Was OK for about 36 hours but yesterday afternoon just started to feel like shit. No shaking, just really achy. Got to sleep about 2 this morning after feeling like a massive flu was coming on but today, feeling 100%.

Since there is a committed 10% or so of the population that continue to be hosts for the virus, I expect boosters will be common for the next few years if not a few more. The good is our R values are well below 1 in the overall Canadian population, and not so good, much higher than 1 amongst those communities of deniers and anti vaxxers, so, as has been said before, this is now very much a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

Because the vaxx doesn't PREVENT infections and transmission, but it greatly REDUCES it.
It's not a binary, all-or-nothing, result.
The vaccine effectiveness for the INDIVIDUAL depends on a number of factors, like age and health.
The goal of the vaccine program, however, is to reduce the transmission on the macro level, for the POPULATION as a whole.

Our own data shows similar results to other jurisdictions -- once you get the community vaccination rate above 80%, the level of transmission begins to fall off (combined with social distancing, masking efforts, etc...)

It's like littering. You, as an individual, not throwing your shit in the garbage can isn't going to make that much of a difference. But if you have 20% of the population throwing trash around everywhere they go, things are going to get very messy.
To add to that virues become less severe when passed from a vaccinated person to another.

Still waiting for my invitation. Just turned 65 so I guess I should be getting an invitation soon. Did you guys had to re-register? I am looking forward for a booster as I have some comorbidities of concern. Thanks for sharing some of the after-effects.

Anecdote does not equal anecdata.

Anecdote may not equal data, but a lot of people are probably happier to hear from people like themselves when it comes to experience with the vaccine, or whatever, kind of like the reviews of the SP's we place significant value on.
Didn't have to re-register...got a text and an email telling me I was eligible for #3. Just had to make the appointment.

Got my booster shot three days ago. No major side effects. Just a little pain on injection site. They gave me a choice of vaccine. Stuck with Pfizer as my previous two shots were Pfizer. Lets hope it works.

Went to Seattle last week for my free, easily booked, booster appointment. Stuck with Pfizer, minimal side effects but felt a bit off day 2. Even working in a prioritized sector, I wouldn’t have been elegible here for another few weeks. Everyone I know down there from 20-70 already have theirs whereas up here only healthcare workers and a few elderly I know of do.
Thanks Uncle Sam 🇺🇸

I give credit where it is due, I also call bullshit where it's due. While ON is shitting the bed with 3rd shots, BC is even worse. There's no bloody excuse that every pharmacy in every city and town doesn't have supplies to give out 3rds to any and all, including the kids by this point, they have been asleep for 3 months to my point of view. Now we are closing up and restricting again in every province and they are scrambling for 3rd boosters. idiots.

Can't find a booster anywhere in west Winnipeg or Headingley. Ugh.
Meanwhile Dr Roussin keeps saying "Get the booster" as if they have it at every 7-Eleven.

A couple of days ago the downtown supersite convention centre had all sorts of vacancies this week booking through the Mb Health website. Maybe that's still an option?

Booked at the RBC, date is Jan 16. A friend called day before yesterday and she’s getting it today.

I'm told that RBC super site is adding capacity frequently and new spots may open, so it's worth a call. I was booked for January but called and was able to move up by two weeks. It's a bit of a crap shoot but worth a try IMO.

There's a small pharmacy in B'Ham taking walk-ins from 9a-noon and 1p-5p...bring your COVID card, ID and insurance card
I got mine at a Walgreens and only provided my BC DL. I had considered offering my health insurance from my Canadian employer but thought it may just delay the process plus I would have to remove my mask to unlock the app. At the bottom of the online booking form, it clearly stated that nobody would be turned away for lack of identification or residency status. I wonder how much these places bill the federal government per uninsured dose given…I’m guessing at least a few hundred dollars. Again, thanks USA! 🦅 🇺🇸
