blood came out of my penis

Dear health nurse.

Early this morning I went to use a public wash room. After I took a pee I whiped off the tip of my penis with some toylet paper and discovered there was blood on the tishue. As i keptd whiping more and there was more blood. No pain or discomfort at all. I opended up the tip of my penis and it looked red inside. The uron itself was not bloddy just normal yellow. There was no pain while i was peeling. Sinse then I have used the wash room twice and this has not heppended. No blood and I have whiped off my penis and no traces of blood at all. I called up my famely Dr and told the girl over the phone what happended. She called me back and told me the Dr didn't know what to recomend at this point sense he would have to see it him self. Right now Im not in the same town or provence as my famely Dr.

All he could recoment if nessasary go to a hospital. But as I said, this has not happended ever sinse. My concearn is, is this a sighn of HIV or Cancer?

Sorry about the delay in getting to your question?

It is difficult to make a diagnose over the internet as someone would need to do a physical exam, testing and look at your medical history. What I can do is give you some suggestions on what you could do next.

I would recommend that you need to see a doctor. If you have BC medical you should be covered for seeing another doctor in a different province. It depends on how long you are going to be away, if it is a short time and you have no more symptoms I could see that you may want to wait until you get back to see your doctor. On the other hand if symptoms start to get worse I would suggest seeing a doctor as soon as possible.

With what you have written it sounds like you are concerned about HIV. The description you have given does not sound like anything I have seen in the clinic related to HIV or an STI, but given that the blood came from your urethra (pee tube) I think it would be a good idea to get STI testing when you go see the doctor.

I saw a Dr yesterday and Did blood work for HIV, Ghanara (Sorry cant spell) and STI and did a Uran test. Wont know nothing till next week. This has not happended ever sense. No blood coming out of my penis. Can you die from a STI? I hope its nothing like that...

Glad that you were able to get to a doctor. Just having a bit of blood only once is certainly a good sign, but I know it can be stressful waiting for your test results.

HIV and syphilis are probably the only two that can lead to death. The good news is that syphilis is treatable with antibiotics and with HIV, even though there is no current way to get it out of your body there is treatment available that helps people live a lot longer.

If someone had HIV or syphilis finding out sooner really helps with your long term health.

The symptoms you described do not sound like HIV or syphilis.
