What is the big deal about blocked numbers?

Would you go around posting your phone number? Why should I have to show it in order to contact a SP or MP?

It's called discretion. It's not worth the hassle of a number getting into the wrong hands.

I'm sure for most SP's it's fine but some are just anal. Not that anal is a bad thing. :)

You don't think that LE could get a regular number if they wanted to? I bet I could phone from a Community Police Station's courtesy phone and you would have no clue as to where the call came from.

From now on I'm going to use OK Tires courtesy phone to book all my appointments.

I also find it annoying at payphones when loud cars drive by while I'm talking to a SP.

If the SP will not except blocked phone calls then you have to just live with it and try another SP who will except/receive blocked calls.
Every SP have rules and she usually spells/clearly states them out to us in her ad. We the pooners have the choice to call or not.

blocked #'s....6 of 1, half dozen of the other?

I too dislike calling a new gal and not being able to block my # if I want to speak with them. But, 1 girl explained it plain and simple > " You already know MY phone #, why shouldn't I at least know yours too?" Good point (damn!). But she also said it was mainly because they have so much more crap to deal with from the blocked callers....people are a lot ruder when they are totally anonymous. And "just in case " anything bad happened during the appt (ie-they were assaulter/robbed), at least there would be something to go on.

Remember, it's just totally -blocked- calls.......most ladies are more than happy to answer calls from Cellphones and Payphones still.

Good point?

Not really. She chooses to advertise that number. How do you think we got it?

It is true that most SP's that don't answer blocked call will have less business.

Not all blocked call are ruder either. If someone is polite I'm certain they will be treated better in the session. That goes in person or on the phone.

It's not a matter of well respected or not. Anything can happen. What if she gets arrested and number are investigated? Or a stalker breaks in and takes a phone list? I could go on and on. I'm sure some of us will take 100% guaranteed anonymity over revealing a traceable phone number.

It may be a very small chance that something would happen when showing a number but some for some pooners even that it too large of a chance.

Simple use a cell phone or pay phone to call a SP. You can purchase a cell phone and purchase limited minutes.
You can also use a telephone card and make your calls from a payphone or a phone from any other location.

I think an advantage of SPs not accepting blocked calls is to prevent no-shows. The SP can call the pooner to make sure he's showing up.

And if the wife answers the phone, I guess he won't be showing up!

So what's next? Do we have to give our last names and home addresses too?

another reason: part of the screening process

profiling potential clients based on many different things,

one being...'the willingness & ability to follow given instruction'

another... 'the consideration & understanding of an SP's need to have a safety & security measure'

Which is why the smart pooner shouldn't give out his home phone number, but instead use a phone that's not accessible by the SO. It's one of the reasons why I finally broke down and got a cellphone several years ago after resisting such a purchase for a long time.

To Block or Not to Block

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I never blocked my phone number before. I phone this visiting SP and tried to book an appointment with her. She told me she wasn't available at that time. But she phoned me an hour later and left me a message. I don't know what she was thinking. But I think I should seriously consider blocking my number when calling SP's.

I remember you reading about you having to take some time off because of injuries from a bad client Daisy. Please stay safe. Guys, take what she says to heart.

I am in SW Calgary
Staying safe is priority #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once had entertained a visitor in my home, was raped beaten and left. I was scared to be in my home, and then had to sell it.

I now screen ALL my calls and i will sometimes even ask if I could call my cleint back, only to confirm my appt. (and the phone #). Being from Edmonton and knowing more than a few of the missing girls there, and even a few from Van. (and 1 from Calgary), I need to play safe. I love the industry, and I think that I have the worlds greatest job, I would be sad to leave.

I have a great attitude, and hope that my cleints would too...... It just makes it that much more fun to have a session. If it bothers you to call an SP from your number, it almost makes me wonder what you are hiding. Us girls understand about the wife, and career and most definatly about discretion, so in light of the more than 60 reported missing women in Alberta alone, (never mind how many are not reported missing), please respect our high need for a little bit of security (shit, even if it is a false sense of security).

And ladies, you do what ever you need to do to stay safe, It should be a priority, and if these guys wanna slam you for it.......... WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!

They still dunno who done it!!!!!!!!!!!

SP are in a business that is quite risky especially for the ladies. I have no problem with them requesting unblocked calls. Pooners there are numerous ways to protect your privacy with use of phone cards use at pay phones, use a cell phone or simply phone from another business location.

There will always be a SP with hoops to jump through.

My money goes where I feel comfortable.

Same with the comfort level with an SP. If they feel the need to screen calls and check out clients all the power to them.

I'll choose the more anonymous route. It only takes one call from an SP. It's just not worth it.

Same if a SP or MP gets busted. I'm sure most would be happy to give out name or phone lists.

For both clients and SP's do what makes comfortable. No one forces you to make decisions against your will.

We can all play safe and still have fun.

Considering how easy it is to get a pay as you go phone under an alias i think its safe to say thay an unblocked number is only marginally safer.

I see the sp's point but there are just as many wackos selling sex as there are buying it.

There is no way im giving personal info besides my cell no to anyone i dont know.

Asking for picture id and home phone numbers etc is way out of line as far as im concerned.

I have to second that Dasiy, that is well said. My reason is this: Too many prank calls, or people that book apts and dont show up,harassment! Same goes for the reason I don't answer pay phone calls.

One exception: If I hear from you prior to apt, via email or pm and I am expecting you to call from a blocked number, then yes I will answer it:)

I agree with the SPs about only answering unblocked calls;) . They need some protection from prank calls which probably hurt their business. Time is worth money to them;) :p  :D

See if this works for you,
You advertise your number. I decide to I like you (way to much) now I am going to call you.

Every day, every night, 24/7, sometimes up to 300 times a day. Calling from a "withheld, blocked or unknown" number.
I am disrupting your family, following you place to place, even breaking into your home. Because I know, I have seen you, I have been there.....

I am going to threaten your family, you, hang up, rant, rave, whine, ask stupid questions, and basically harass you endlessly........

To the point of keeping your phone shut off. You could change your number, but then I will see it in your next ad, or find it somehow.......until you quit.

Let me know how it goes.......

I wish we all thought that way. This is a dangerous game for all invovled.

Sometimes it is the client, sometimes it is the girl. Sometimes you don't know until it is to late.

It is best to get a cell phone with paid minutes, a number that shows up, and keep it at the office.

I have always managed to keep it professional with the ladies but i have heard stories about clients that dont, some stories i believed and some not.

I cant imagine any adult acting in the manner that Megan described but now im curious to know how often a client actually turns stalker.

Ladies does this type of thing happen often or is it the exception?
