A potential solution to the lack of flash is to download 3rd party web browsers like iCabMobile and Skyfire. I downloaded them on my Iphone and they play flash videos with no problem. The other great thing about those 2 apps is that you can set the browser as "desktop" instead of mobile browser. You get full websites.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and comments so far. It never ceases to amaze me the breadth of knowledge, experience and intelligence to be found on a pooner board!
I already have a BB torch so the tethering is not a problem for me. One thing I liked about the Playbook right off the bat is the smaller size compared to the Xoom or the Ipad. I have also heard great things about the hardware quality of the Playbook. The lack of apps is a major downside of course but I have also heard that compatibility with Android apps is on the way.
If there were another tablet out there that had the size, quality and android functionality at a competitive price (which I am sure there is) I would probably go that way, although in some small way I guess I want to be patriotic and support RIM.

Thanks SR.To the OP....which ever lil electronic doodad you opt for I suggest you buy it from DHGate.com.....ALL of the tablets mentioned in this thread are made in China and if you think otherwise go to any establishment and take a look at one....as in take it apart as much as you can...eventually you will find the words "Made in China"
Why pay $400+ for something when you can pay less than $100 for the exact same thing made by the same supplier.
I am not into tech gadgets and have no opinion of the superiority of one over the other....I am merely advocating for people to cut out the profiteering that companies like Apple & Rim force upon us as consumers.

No wonder we are a nation of overweight people, holding a extra few ounces will hurt! But back to the point, I had a 7 tablet before, its was nice to watch some videos but for reading web pages it just too small.
I guess it depends on what you are planning to do with the device. I have the ipad2, and have no complaints to date. I do not find the flash problem to be a problem, and chose it over the playbook simply because of the 3G option. I have a torch also, so it was nothing to do with company loyalty, but the desire to not want to tether any time I needed the 3G, which is very often.
I exchanged my Acer Tablet for the Samsung Galaxy 10.1. I just cant resist that screen of the Samsung's it is so bright clear and vivid. Photos on flickr, Hd videos from youtube are just beautiful. Yeah, its has no ports but I am just using it for entertainment. Playing videos has no gitches. So light and slim it feels like a product from Star Trek.
