You guys are killing the server..no more images from porn sites please.
Copyright violation problems also, site can get sued for that.

Is the Perb lounge an area to engage in topical discussion, be it related directly or indirectly to pooning, or to topical current events, or to political dissertation, or to finance, or to food, or to music, or to technology, or to a hundred other topics - topics that will keep members interested, perhaps inspire lurkers to come forward --- or is the Perb lounge an area for a select few members to hotlink to readily available (and accessible to all) porn and/or erotic pic sites? Oh, wait you say --- can’t it be a balance?

No more porn pictures, you guys are violating copyright. That can create serious problems for the board. Not to mention the images add quite a bit to bandwidth overhead. You can always tell people where to go to see the pictures. But please don't copy them over to the board.wolverine said:

1. Does hotlinking an image actually increase the server load any more that an http link? I wouldn't think that the image would be stored on your filesystem or database. All that exists on the Perb server would be a few 1's and 0's which make up the image hotlink. When being viewed by the user, the image is then loaded from the host server directly to the user's computer. Does that add significantly to Perb's server load? If so, then you should look at immediately suspending all image hotlinking because there are thousands more hotlinks out there than were in the handfull of threads that were taken down. [as noted on the opening screen: Threads: 18,499, Posts: 161,993]
2. If you are concerned about copyright, then again you should not restrict yourself to this handful of threads. They contain a few hundred photos at best. There are thousands of others out there in the other existing threads that more than likely also violate copyright. The only way to deal with this would be to disable all image linking.

ya I liked alian's and Bulls pics but its not as though there's a shortage of porn on the internet
if perb admin/fred zed says its bad for the board then its bad for the board and live with it!

I was wondering how long those porn pics would last. I remember admin stating months ago that they take up too much bandwidth, so it shouldn't be a surprise that they are now gone. Fred Zed deserves a thank-you for letting y'all enjoy them for a few days!
FYI, the only people who care about copyright are those distributing porn, as that is a huge money maker, and they will make a fuss if you don't remove it. (I have a friend who does porn sites.) I doubt that the guy who took the pic of the bunny with the pancake on it's head would care if it was infringed upon.

I am not going to go through a lot of technical analysis, in any event I am not a computer expert but have you noticed that the board is loading quite a bit faster since last night when I deleted some of the images ? I will get round to cleaning up the remaining images inn time for the upgrade to VB 3.04 during the the next few weeks. No one is stopping you from sharing porn links.Bull said:Fair enough, Fred. It's not as if any of the guys who are complaining will help me with my legal bill if I am sued for copyright violation.
