2 sides to an issue. Always will be. Look at the US. In an war, any country would be stupid to invade the US, due to the mass distribution of guns.
Several years ago I attended a Canadian Firearms course. And the question most asked was about handguns for protection of self. I was disappointed that people felt they needed a gun in Canada to protect themselves. My other though was that these individuals has some criminal intent.
When I was growing up, the gun was a rifle, the rifle was for hunting. For me now, guns are for target practice, either with a rifle or with a handgun at a range.
The problem governments see with guns, is their lack of control over people who will use them. So they restrict them. Human beings do not alway get along, there is conflict. People fear violence against themselves, therefore they think they need something more... perhaps a gun....
