2 sides to an issue. Always will be. Look at the US. In an war, any country would be stupid to invade the US, due to the mass distribution of guns.
Several years ago I attended a Canadian Firearms course. And the question most asked was about handguns for protection of self. I was disappointed that people felt they needed a gun in Canada to protect themselves. My other though was that these individuals has some criminal intent.

When I was growing up, the gun was a rifle, the rifle was for hunting. For me now, guns are for target practice, either with a rifle or with a handgun at a range.

The problem governments see with guns, is their lack of control over people who will use them. So they restrict them. Human beings do not alway get along, there is conflict. People fear violence against themselves, therefore they think they need something more... perhaps a gun....

If you think that you are fighting to protect our freedoms, youre deliusional. What exactly has the threat against our freedoms been? Thats just something youve been brainwashed to say Hunny. And believe.
Sometime in the future....if we have the opportunity, I can sit down with you and tell you what I have witnessed first hand.
Perhaps I should have worded that comment differently....I can tell you about how I have seen women and children cut to pieces.
They start with the children first, and make the parent watch, they then behead her, and leave the bodies in the streets, for us to find.
In reference to my post about “ our freedoms” , you need to consider the past two world wars....the 9-11 attacks, that occurred on North American soil, and the Military policy to keep the enemy busy at home, so attacks will cease in this part of the hemisphere.
I believe in the right to life for all human beings, and if you think Canada Is immune to terrorist attacks...that I consider delusional.

All Im saying is that as Canadian Military of this generation your fighting for other countries rights to freedoms, not the rights of the gentleman that you implied you had faught for his right to have his opinion. I am not down playing what you have witnessed. I personally have great feeling towards those of you that chose to live a life that would ultimately end in emotional and psychological disorders. Its a horrible way to have to live after the fact., during the fact, really. I feel for you. But I also venture to point out that you made the choice to live that existence.
911 attacks are not Canadian issues and is universally argued as to whether or not it was a terrorist attack
What I was referring to was that someone else,....and not necessarily my generation, or himself
fought those battles ,and pulled the trigger for him.
With all due respect, you may have considered my point out of context...I implied that someone else fought in his stead, before he was even born.
I don’t think any of us know what would have happened if North America had not got involved in the Second World War....there is the possibility we may all be speaking German right now.
You can’t defend your nation by throwing blunt sticks at an enemy, you arm yourself first as a deterrent, and you must back it up ,no matter what the consequences.
I find it interesting that there is an entire generation, that believes there is no point in even having a military....that there is no threat.
Yet not so very long ago, a german U boat surfaced in the Saint Lawrence river, and the government was issuing rifles and ammunition to citizens ,that lived along the b.c coastline.
My point was.....someone in the very near past, picked up a rifle, and fought an enemy that was looking at assimilating the entire world, and erasing anyone who thought differently.
Our current threats may not have the same numbers as Germany, or the resources.....but if they saw an opportunity to destroy us ....trust me, they would.

Sure. Great. Good point for sure. If the thread wasnt about every day civilians and farmers and their need for automatic assault rifles.
No....the point of this thread was bill C-328....your point was that I was taking credit for another mans freedoms, which you misunderstood.....He has not responded, so you took it upon yourself, with half informed comments, to defend his self entitled attitude.
There is no place in our society for assault rifles, they belong in the battlefields....and it is my opinion as an everyday civilian, and farmer the penalties should be increased.
