As some wise person once said, "every cloud has a silver lining". And another similar saying "it's an ill wind that blows no one no good".

So I thought I would start a list of positives coming from this pandemic:

1) Saving lots of gas $, parking $ and time not having to drive to work and working online at home instead.
2) Public washrooms are sooo much cleaner now lol. Did not see that one coming.

Ok folks, go ahead and add your own.

Pretty much zero mass shootings in the States since January.
The world seems a quieter place with many staying at home.
Many have taken the (forced) opportunity to reconnect with family.
Not that it's necessarily a positive, but I expect somewhat of a baby boom in the coming months.

Work is easier and more productive now that I work from home. I don't have the endless people coming into my office asking how to do things they should already know.
Don't have to drive downtown, don't have to park downtown.
Didn't have to make unnecessary business trips.

Even more time with my kids.
Less outside activities allowed me to catch up with stuff around the home.
Made some money from investments.

Old folks homes defects now have to be looked at because that was where the most deaths were. Hopefully forces private care to do something or throw owners in jail for lack of results.

An Overhaul of the Education system in every province had to be looked, due to fall emplacement of kids in school. About 30% staying home to learn. Problem is rich kids vs poor kids and class size and affordability of distance learning for young people.

Many social structures have cracked/strained, but not broken.

I still believe they lack any amount of respirators in hospitals to cope with a real panedemic. Its like lifeboats on the Titanic (there should be enough lifeboats for every one plus 10%). Not some formula saying 1 respirator per 100,000 people (remember at 1 respirator for every 2 persons 50% of the population could die).....I am sure the formula the government uses was made in the 1950s and in it was the large area affected (considering how big Canada is and how isolated it was back then.) andwhen there was no widespread jet travell, and China was weeks away by boat.

After all these risk mangement assholes are just guessing... Just like the insurance risk mangement people saying a flood happens once every 300 years, when it happens every 20.... They are just guessing.... If you don't believe talk to your Real Estate Agent who will tell you your new home isn't in a flood area when it is.....

In first aid its: Breathing, Bleeding, Unconsciousness..... So repirators should be a priority. Sorry fucked that up , make sure the area is safe for you and the victim. Then start First Aid.
Breathing.......

And shopping carts and baskets are cleaner too.

I like that the lines outside usually eliminates the wait inside
I like that I can continue my private conversations with myself while shopping masked up .
I like not needing to wear make up . Lashes are in point while I give my lips a nice hydrating treatment under the mask while out & about .
I don’t like small talk with strangers (outside my ravishings??) so the lack of chatty chat suits me fine .
I like that the few restaurants I do eat at have been totally updated with new safety precautions so that’s a win/win .
I like that there’s less airplanesin the skies as it’s brought a lot more nature back to my area.
I like that I’ve gone back to making everything by scratch and not just eating convenience and quick to make food .
I like that I had a lot of extra time to work outside & grow things .
I like being able to enjoy my city without hoards of international tourists running it over . (That was until all of downtown parks became over run with crackheads :( )
I like that I know I live in a country who will step up and help everyone at a scary dire time .

The pandemic led to lockdowns which brought various benefits.

What is obviously clear is:

1) serious vehicular accidents & deaths are way way down
2) flu deaths & serious complications have decreased tremendously
3) C-19 ill health & deaths are far less due to the lockdowns
4) likewise probably other communicable diseases (e.g. tuberculosis, HIV) have been greatly reduced by the extreme safety measures in place
5) street crimes have probably been highly reduced.
6) families have been able to spend more time together enjoying each others company while free from the slavery of that 4 letter word "work" that the vast majority hate. Giving more time for quality of life activities like sex & various entertainments.
7) abortions are probably down.

The safety measures practiced this year re C-19 may lead to benefits for many years to come re the flu & other illnesses, both the known & unknown.

I would also venture to say that the number of forest fires is down. Less people travelling around BC or coming from other provinces.

They sure don't have that one to brag about in Wash, Ore or Cali. HOLY SMOKES!!
It's unreal out there and we're paying for their fires with their smoke choking the shit
out of us thanks to unruly winds and weather patterns.

Upside of Covid, streets are less crammed, nice to take the ground pounder out for a cruize
with affordable 94 Octane.
Less people walking around on the streets in the local community and less cars makes it
so much more quieter. Gotta love it!!

I also find local stores less crammed as well except of course just before long weekends.

On the plus side, all the smoke in the atmosphere has given us some pretty awesome sunsets.

This is a dress rehersal. We will know better what to do and respond faster with distancing, masks, border closures, plexiglass screens, hand hygene, etc. when the really deadly pandemic hits. Let’s hope that airborne covid-ebola hybrid is a long way off.
Oh ya, and shut down live animal trade at wet markets.

Gotta agree with that Punt, well said. This all going on makes me wonder what they went through
psychologically and medically back in the 1918 pandemic. I could only imagine it scared them
witless not having the medical knowledge they have today.

And then there are "leaders" like Trump that say science is bunk and basically act like they are back in the times when humans were unaware of viruses LOL.

I have to admit the border restrictions make life a lot easier for me, taking minutes to cross the bridge at Windsor and not hours. When Toronto was in lockdown the traffic was a breeze never having to worry about rush hour.

You have to commute to be a Moderator?.....I certainly hope your employment includes benefits, and a healthy retirement package.
