Being stood up due to "technical difficulties"

Apologies if this topic has been discussed to death, but I'm curious if others have experienced this.

I tried arranging a date earlier tonight with an SP I've had my eye on for a while and after a lot of texting back and forth, we agreed upon a time so I left work early to make the appointment. I had no idea where her incall was located specifically, so I asked, but her reply was something like "did you get my text?" to which I replied "no", assuming she tried to send me the information earlier. She then suspected either my phone or her phone wasn't working, so I asked if she could email it to me since smartphones are ubiquitous these days.
It's 10 minutes before we're supposed to meet and I still haven't heard anything until finally I get an email saying "looks like I haven't heard from you, perhaps another time" to which I immediately replied that in fact I was in the area waiting. Needless to say she never got back to me. It was a fruitless effort and I felt pretty annoyed that I traveled all the way for nothing.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is this common? Frankly I found it rather suspect that both my texts and emails were not getting through to her (I was texting other people around the same time). I suspect what likely happened was that she found someone else willing to see her for longer than I could have, so instead of telling me that something else came up, she makes up a ruse that it's due to a technical problem.

I've been stood up before, but often I just don't hear from them at all rather than having my phone be blamed.
It would've been great if she just said she was busy in the first place and avoid the hassle of trying to be on time for a non-existent appointment that I thought was confirmed.

Anyway, I don't think I'm alone in saying it would be great if SPs could just be blunt about not wanting to see a client. I think it's better to be rejected than to waste time and effort not knowing what's going on.
Thoughts?

It's rare but sometimes it is due to "technical difficulties". More often than not, it's just poor time management or scheduling. Next time, don't consider a date a sure thing until she has agreed to a time and given you her address. It's always prudent to give her a heads up text about an hour before or just before you're heading out her way, just in case.

You can send yourself both texts and email just as s test. Telus and Rodgers websites have facilities for sending texts and you can check it out for you test too. You can also send s text to most Telus landline phones. The text is translated to voice and played to the person who picks up the phone. Lots of ways to check things are working when others are telling you that the are not.

I liked your disclaimer at the start of your thread,
"Apologies if this topic has been discussed to death, but I'm curious if others have experienced this."

My biggest pooning disaster was because of technical difficulties, sort of.
Got a date with a stellar touring babe and stopped to buy her flowers. Rush back to my car...and my keys and phone were locked inside. Called CAA and tow truck but had to wait almost an hour. Phoned her to say I'd be late, then to cancel when I realised I would never make it.
She was polite but never answered another email. I could tell she thought I was a jerk.

Thanks for the insights, everyone.
In retrospect, I think she did confuse me with someone else initially so it's possible there was some confusion on both our parts.
Updating to iOS8 might have been another reason :p

I'll be a little wiser in the future and hopefully be able to see her another time.

Due to an unpredictable work schedule, I find it hard to book well in advance, as much as I would like to. It's been rather hit and miss as well where I find I'll only get a response if a girl has posted an ad the day of indicating they're working. When I try to reach them at other times I never get a response, especially if the only contact is a phone number.

Ha, thanks take8easy :p I saw the 'running into an SP in public' thread and thought this subject must have come up before.
Sucks to hear about that experience, westwoody

Well, if you use an Apple product you should expect that sort of thing ;). They could have monitors online trying to filter out immoral activity, such as seeing SPs. Apple is Big Brother and does not approve of such activity you know :)

Well unfortunately the same type of thing happen to me today. A lady who I was suppose to see earlier in the week cancelled on that date and didn't reply after we made plans for a makeup date. She cancelled our first date after I didn't call her to confirm our date the night before but according to her email when I made the date I was to phone her the morning of the date. When I sent her a copy of that email, she apologized and said her assistant had made a mistake and gave me the confirmation info. No problem stuff like this happens all the time and I said I'll try to see her again the next time she is in town.

I then found out I could change my work schedule and might be able to see her before she left town. We set a time for the date and I was confirm. She told me which hotel she was staying at and that I was to text her the next day to tell her when I was near the hotel so she could come get me (key card hotel) When I texted her a few times there was no response, then I tried to email her. Again no response. I was a little upset that she had not responded but then I thought something might have happen to her. I'm sure there is a good explanation but it kind of unprofessional of her to do this twice to me. I would still like to see her even though this has happen because she has a great rep and is sexy as hell :D

Hopefully she respond soon ...
