Mental health data from all age groups will be something to watch over the years. A covid PTSD.And many people need to continue to work in what the status quo deems "non-essential business" to live. Rent, food, etc. that costs money. Everyone has bills to pay. People need to eat, they need to keep a roof over their head for themselves and their family. In a perfect world everyone could just isolate at home for a few weeks/months until this nightmare blows over but this world is FAR from perfect. And don't even get me started on how this pandemic has cratered numerous people's mental health...this situation is ugly, and as time goes on it keeps getting uglier.
And they say a vaccine is on its way.. a rushed at near the speed of light vaccine...umm... sounds great!! What could go possibly go wrong...?!
This has become a very messy situation with no perfect and easy fix
That’s nonsense and you know it. If Canada had acted upon early intel which they were aware of even in late December, and immediately isolated those infected and stopped flights to China, we wouldn’t be in this mess. At all. Now we’re testing anyone and everyone who wants a test with a test not meant to be used, to continue this perpetual fear and stress regimeIt’s crazy to hold Taiwan up as an example.
Taiwan had strict quarantine and good compliance. Ontario closes a greasy BBQ shithole and covidiots rioted.
They have had a successful lockdown in Australia, the beaches are open again and there are no new cases.remember when they said we needed mask compliance of around 80%
you really think that isn't happening in most places?
problem is, the nannies have pushed it so hard, people are no longer social distancing, they believe they're golden just cause they wore a mask
go to stores, watch how many aren't using the hand sanitizer when entering/exiting
one way aisles in stores, people stopped long ago, go up down aisle either way, stay 6 ft away, not for months
NOT THAT THIS IS WHERE PEOPLE ARE SPREADING THE DISEASE, OR DID WE NOT SPEND THE FIRST 8 MONTHS WITHOUT MASKS IN GROCERY/STORES ACROSS THE COUNTRY, LOL
IT'S MORONS HAVING GET TOGETHERS PARTIES EATING DRINKING IN LARGER GROUPS FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME
WHERE MASKS AREN'T THE LAW
lockdowns don't work, they just delay the inevitable
they've had a lockdown in Que for well over a month, it's still not working
unless you are going to go commie and do what Australia did, for 3 months, waste of time
what's needed is quit fucking over the 99% who don't have or haven't had a confirmed case
and start putting the other 1/4 of 1% or so into isolation, put an app on their phone, make sure they stay isolated/home 24/7, phone them, show up at their door welfare check
you know like Taiwan did/does, where they never locked down, have 6 dead
no, that'd be work, require competent government
let's do what's the lazy way
tell everyone to go hide in their basement
despite that the "RISK" is no where near what people are shitting their depends over
AB, we have 13-15,000 active cases, out of 4.4 fucking million people
barely 1% have been confirmed in 9 months
risk, yeah, no, it's perception
8 months
need time to ramp up healthcare, testing, tracing, protecting the old folks
irrational emotion
not risk
sure it's real, deadly, if you're an 70+ unhealthy
otherwise, no
facts don't support that
but then facts don't matter anymore
That's nonsense. The biggest source of the virus in the US is believed to be Europe. Likely also true for Canada. That’s nonsense and you know it. If Canada had acted upon early intel which they were aware of even in late December, and immediately isolated those infected and stopped flights to China, we wouldn’t be in this mess. At all. Now we’re testing anyone and everyone who wants a test with a test not meant to be used, to continue this perpetual fear and stress regime
This is not the United States. There is no "right to free speech." Freedom of expression is protected, but the Charter permits the government to enforce reasonable limits.I hope Adam Skelly’s case goes all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. Enough is enough. The judge ordered him a gag order, he is not allowed to reach out on any social media platform of any kind. This is Canada not communist China, we have a right to free speech. If you don’t understand the ramifications this has on all of our freedoms, you should take note. His BBQ has to be closed, but big businesses remain open? If they have nothing to hide, they wouldn’t need to censor him. Time for a wake up call. He’s a covidiot but where was the same shame for BLM rioters and protesters? It doesn’t sit right with me.
In Canada, we got hit hard through the US and Europe. We should have stopped all travel into Canada or had a tough quarantine regime.

I said it before I’ll say it again - we’re doing this ass backwards. I’m sorry to say, but this is just a bad flu season. The numbers do not support any of these draconian measures. I’ve looked at Swedens numbers over and over. They even show a direct comparison between daily deaths on any given day from 2015-2020. They had a brief spike between May-June, but quickly fell. Even with their massive spike in unnecessary tests and positive cases, their daily avg death rate has fallen to below 2019 numbers even on same days this past month. This is a country with no masks, no lockdowns (until recently in some areas) and no distancing.
Isn’t it about time we know the truth? What impact this has on the health and well being of otherwise healthy people? Suicide rates? Mental health? It’s time for a reality check here. You are correct about the negative impact this will have on children, who know no better. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be a kid who is highly impressionable thinking they did something wrong these days.
Heart attacks and strokes are still the leading causes of death in pretty much every country worldwide - what if we spent even 10% of the amount of energy fighting covid-19 into that and obesity. Taking proactive steps into something that would make a huge difference for once. We live in a world where it’s only reactionary. Have something wrong? There’s a pill for that. That pill causes a symptom? We have a pill for that too. And on and on we go.
In other words you endorse closing a grease pit because a guy was running a small business at the same time a peaceful protest was going on, but when it comes to 300 people cramming into a Costco or when there were BLM rioters and protestors running amok you turn the other cheek. I guess as long as you wear your mask like you’re told, stand on the dotted line like you’re told, everything will be ok!That's nonsense. The biggest source of the virus in the US is believed to be Europe. Likely also true for Canada.
This is not the United States. There is no "right to free speech." Freedom of expression is protected, but the Charter permits the government to enforce reasonable limits.
The government also has the right to close his grease pit, and Skelly has no legal leg to stand on.
Remember that Trudeau admires China's regime....not surprising....Adam Skelly is protected by the freedom of expression act in our charter of rights and freedoms. We are going out of our way to kill small business but keep the big ones alive. What they’re doing here is straight out of the Communist playbook. A gag order is a bit of an over reaction.
Is it proper government that's needed or proper behaviour ? Taiwan is a much more homogenous society then Canada and I suggest that is probably the single biggest driver behind their success in dealing with Covid. Our wonderful multicultural diverse society does not lend itself well to the kind of actions taken in Taiwan. Had the government tried sure as hell one group or the other would be yelling racism or bigotry or whatever it took to get an exemption or special treatment.I keep saying the same things. We’re going about this whole thing the wrong way and the govts ineptitude just compounds the entire issue.
Taiwan nipped this thing in the bud and early - they literally showed the world what to do and how to do it. Aside from extreme measures in New Zealand and Australia, no other country has even made an attempt to follow their standards at all. Imagine if we had a proper govt and followed Taiwan this would have been over in a matter of weeks. Too late now, the trains left the station.
And we’re supposed to trust this same govt when it comes to getting (in my view) an unnecessary vaccine? And folks wonder why there’s misinformation, distrust, and lack of focus.
And now we have cases. And more cases. We tell everyone to social distance, stay away from people, wear a mask, lockdown in some places but it’s not having any real effect. We’re trying to fight a forest fire with a hose and not getting anywhere. We’re using PCR tests that weren’t even meant to be used as a diagnostic tool in the first place.
Then we’re yelling at one another because one or another protocol wasn’t met and then calling each other selfish. Why should the 99% who aren’t infected be punished? And continue to be punished? The people who are immunocompromised are the ones who should be most protected and isolated not the other way around. I think it’s selfish that the 1% feel they’re more important than the lives of the other 99% who need to get on with it and their own lives. There’s no common sense any more. What did you expect would happen when you put a bunch of younger people out of work, collecting welfare, sitting on their ass - you think they’d stay at home all day or not have parties?
Nope I think people will be at odds with each other for a long time and the govt is making sure this lasts as long as possible. There’s no transparency and nobody is coming out with the truth. There’s never any good news or solutions just endless reactionary restrictions and here we are.
