My two cents.

I have never seen such ignorance, for the lack of a better word, when it comes to politics. So many people wrapped up in myths and cliches. In the end it makes me wonder about the viability of democracy. :(

Liberals have saved BC. Yes, some have suffered due to cuts brought about by total NDP mismanagement but the road ahead looks bright.

Think for one second about the TV debate and anything else that you have heard puppet James say. If she were told that she could not use "Gordon Campbell" in a sentence and only talk about what the NDP would do.....you get my point.

When a house needs fixing, some tough decisions are needed. The Province was paying janitors as much as nurses. Many other similar examples. If you cannot get that pay in private sector, you shouldn't in public. Private sector is sustainable, public is a drain with negative multipliers.

Strong feelings are showing in this thread. Anyone who thinks strongly the Liberals have done them wrong, try to think whether it was because something was removed that you couldn't afford and now you are pissed because someone else isn't paying. Remember, governments don't have monney they only have your money. If you want more than you contribute, then realize that the people contributing get tired of paying all the time when those receiving only complain and/or try and vote out the very economical regime that allows them to make money, employ people etc. SO THAT THEY CAN PAY YOU.

I don't know if the Liberals have saved BC. The jury is still out on that.

I do agree they've corrected some imbalances such as janitors and cleaning staff being paid the same as health care workers who not only have a university degree but also have real responsibility in the workplace that can cost them their job if they **** up.

A lot of people seem to forget it was the NDP that gave those public sector union workers a sweet contract about 2 months before the last provincial election in a desperate attempt to buy votes.

If there's a bone to pick with the BC Liberals, it's Gordo's leadership style. Various spending cuts were done in a mean-spirited, heartless way by Liberal minions who seemed to enjoy every minute of it, despite the lives they were affecting.

I'd rather have the BC Liberals in power without Gordo, but since that's not on, they seem to be the lesser of two evils.

Neither the NDP nor Liberals seem to have a clue on several issues.

They both advocate fish farming, when there's good data from Europe to indicate we're heading for the same mistakes already made in Scandinavia, Britain, and elsewhere.

Neither one has a clear map on how to improve the availability and quality of health care in the province.

It's a long time now since Campbell's momentary vision of the "Hydrogen Highway" to Whistler has been talked about - because it's pie in the sky. We keep hearing the economy is booming, but where are the figures on increased foreign investment in BC? Unemployment is low as a %, but how many people have given up looking for work, are self-employed, or employed part-time compared to 10 years ago?

On the other hand, it seems right that if Carole James couldn't say, "Don't you just hate Gordon Campbell?" she'd have nothing else to offer.

Well, she seemed to have said it quite well in the television debate, as the NDP's polls are up since Tuesday.

Ok… I wouldn’t go as far as Hornydude…

Ahh,, who the hell am I kidding?.. Sure I would, he just beat me to it.

As a person who pays WAYYYYY too much tax, I resent the bums who don’t. I think that if a person does not pay any income tax, they should not be entitled to vote.

We even have street bums now who can vote without a fixed address. I think that’s bullshit.

Contribute to society = 1 vote

Be a burden on society = 0 vote

Go Liberals!

Ah!, but who gets to decide what a contribution to society is? And then who is or isn't contributing?

I do, thanks for asking.

Second place goes to society which is really the non-government portion of society where actual value is decided by other humans and not some twisted ideology.

Societies do indeed need to take care of those who cannot take care of themselves, I read that last night and agree with it, but to the dumb lazy f'ucks that want it all for nothing - they can rot for all I care.

Talk of shooting the Premier is definitely not on. You were (rightly) given shit not for keeping your comments "short" btw, but for keeping them stupid.

Your contribution to society is sucking strangers' cocks....and you probably don't even contribute to healthcare, schools, raodwork, etc. by paying taxes on the cash you earn doing it. Campbell's contribution is to lead a province of 4 million people and keep the economy going so that real people with real lives do well. On that basis alone you're probably not fit to pass judgment.

Now sod off you silly girl!
Campbell and his nazis have done nothing but ride the coat-tails of an improving Canadian economy -- the economy in BC would have improved even if the ndp had stayed for another term ... govt's really do believe their own bullshit almost as much as you do.

what Campbell has done is to further polarize politics in BC, he has waged war on the poor, women, the disabled and anyone else who isn't rich.

in return, he has increased corporate welfare, cut the labour code and tried busting the unions to appease the rich even more.

keep an eye on the rest of the Canadian economy and when it starts to tank, BC will look rosy for a while because its always the last to react to any economic changes up or down around here.

and if the fucking businesses in the province weren't run by such cheap and ignorant morons then workers, such as in the construction industry, wouldn't have run to other provinces to work.

its all boom and bust in bc ... and the liberals have no plan for a sustainable economy except to tax the poor to pay the rich.

so fuck off.

And you should get a job. Face it, the Liberals ARE going to get re-elected. If the NDP are so great, how come they were relegated to two lousy seats in the last election, setting a precedent the Province has never seen for an incumbent government getting booted out on their ass.

Actually no. That honour goes to New Brunswick. Frank McKenna, now Canada's ambassador to the US, and his Liberals won every seat. Now what year that election was I can't remember. If you want I can find out for you.

Also the last BC election just proved how unfair the electoral system is. The Liberals won something between 50-55% of the vote but won all but two seats. There should be a system, proportional representation, where a party's number of seats equates to the percentage of votes they get.

Lastly, in BC politics, the Socreds of Bill Vander Zalm are really the same political party as the Liberals of Gordon Campbell. Those of the Reform and then Alliance train of thought, if you are looking for true united right then look at the Social Credit turned Liberals. Same lot, different name.

I really like the idea of NDP's inheiratance tax.

Will give you Social Bene's now but get it back when you DIE!. ..

So when I pass on and my daughter/son get my house they have to pay a huge tax to Provincial Gov't.

I think some people just can't see it. Just remember:

FRBC, ICBC Scandal, SKEENA Cell, Bingo-gate, Fudget Budget, Fast Cats, should I say more ???????????

and about cuts... if your house is broken you have to fix it! You cant keep giving social bene's when you aren't generating the money to pay for them.

Tuition ! pisses me off... get a job and save your money! I think we were insulted with NDP grants, you save your money and do well and you get jack shit..meanwhile people that spent there money travelling, booze, cigs, pooning lol, came with no money in there account and were given free tuition money ..

Yeah system works, but what if everyone decided to do it ? Sure there are some people in need, but in most cases kids had similar jobs but were effected by parents or personal financial situation. .

Thats CRAP! why b/c my parents saved and did not go to Disneyland 12 times and did not eat out every night or spend money everyday .... why penalize someone for doing wel ???

That was NDP's goal.. they never looked at the causes... people wont vote for them b/c Liberals made it harder to get assitance if they traveled when getting money ... is it right to be in Europe while collecting EI bene's yes some issues are Federal too but come from the same ideology..

Proportional representation

It never ceases to amaze me how NDPers complain about fairness only when it doesn't suit them. I could go on, but I did want to address one statement by dirtydan.

The Liberals won all but 2 seats last time around because that is what BCers wanted - pure and simple. Learn the electoral system. I know organizers with both parties, and those who do understand the system don't b*tch about it unless they are actually debating reform.

Didn't Glen Clark take the NDP to victory with less of the popular vote than the Liberals yet won a majority. Yes they did. Is that fair. No, but he understood the game, and the Liberal party made sure the next time around they ran a decent campaign. They learned, and didn't complain about the system.

If you do want reform (which we all should look at), then vote for STV. Ironically, it is the Liberals that formed the citizens' assembly and brought this to a vote. Think about it. They aren't going to benefit from it are they?

Well it's obvious there are not a lot of teachers in the Perb clan with all the pro Liberal response here. But then again they are a cheap and boring lot, that would have a tough time parting with money to have a good time. I have very little to add to this other than the NDP have been in power on two seperate occasions and in both cases they crippled the B.C. economy to a point that they were thrown out on their ears and had an entire population too embarassed for anyone to admit that they had voted them into power. Think about it, do you know anyone that admits to putting Glen Clarke and his band of ineptitude into power the last time and lest we forget Dave Barrett turning a horn of plenty into a sea of red. These were both feats of biblical proportion that should be passed down from generation to generation, but alas time heals all wounds and we tend to forget the bad times. All I ask is that the people remember the lieing, cheating and stealing of the NDP for two more elections and that should allow me to retire and not have to worry about how I am going to bounce back the next time they get elected and bring the economy to it's knees.

Driving through a Lower Mainland riding yesterday, I couldn't help but notice that many signs favouring the Liberal, and those of some fringe candidates, had been destroyed. Interesting point here is that the signs supporting the CUPE candidate seemed to be intact.

The Unions / NDP will say that they haven't got a clue about the cause but, like it or not, they appear guilty by association.

What's the matter with being able to freely express your support for a given candidate, whoever he/she may be?

Now before you Socialists jump all over this/me, it does happen both ways. But it does seem to be happening more to one major party than to the other in this particular go-around. How come?

It seems very fishy, down right smelly, that everyone's signs were vandalized except for one party's.

I have been involved in politics and when it comes to signs strange things do happen. Some campaign workers will knock down the signs of another candidate, which is illegal, but you have to get caught.

However some campaigns will knock down their own signs! Why? To create sympathy for themselves. They run to the media crying poor us, look at what some vandal did to our campaign signs.

Oh yes, the worst offender when it comes to signs? Hands down it is the Liberals. They truly have no regard for any municipal by-laws or any sort of regulations regarding signage. Some towns and cities limit or prohibit signs on the boulevards, but Liberals don't care. What Liberals do not understand is that the boulevards don't vote. Also too many signs, especially those not on private property, will piss off voters.

Lastly and not to sound racist, you can always tells when you are putting up a sign at the home of a recent immigrant. There will be signs for all of the parties!

You just made yourself a racist!

Not everyone in the same household will hold the same political view.
I will be voting for the Liberals and my brother will be voting for the NDP.
