@ Canine Cowboy - the number of convictions was for one year....yes there have been a few more over time...the point is how many were arrested vs. how many were actually convicted.....
@Miss Hunter i didn't mean to upset you and yes i read it. the charges listed do not include anything about child exploitation, there are all about facilitating prostitution and money laundering. the sections in which they describe backpages activities related to moderating child exploitation contain assertions of complacency however it remains to be seen if they can actually prove those allegations in court...i guess because of my experience with the anti trafficking and anti child exploitation advocates, i am always suspicious of these kinds of assertions...i know in canada those groups have very successfully made parliamentarians believe that there were hundreds of exploited youths being advertised on backpage...if it's true...where were the rescues...where were the arrests of those individuals doing the exploiting...? i would be surprised if that section was given any weight in the court decisions against backpage simply because the "proof" they offer is subjective, they WERE trying to combat exploitation .... but not trying hard enough is what i got from the charges....
