I agree I probalby is unfair

However I live in a condominum so here is some perspective as to how i am looking at this I have olny been to two bord meetings and I personaly would not like to be on any condo bord even if I was paid. Becase the people who show up to the bord meetings and in some respect the people who end up on these condo bords tend to be retired people . Who for the most part seem to have nothing better to do than bitch and complain about the negbours dog pooping on there lawn or get angry about the fact that the bord rules say they cant install an air coditoner the size they want without bord aprovial .

Realize for the most part bord aproval is really a joke since you actually own the house / aparment your in If you do something agaist the bord aproved rules pretty much all they can do is send you a strong letter . informing you that you did not follow bord rules.

what is the major copmpaint in that video that the bord canceld gutter cleaning . Another thing that happens in these situations in order to "save money " bord members will often hire themseves for mantence task. On our bord before he moved out . The head of our condo bord did all the grass cutting and snow shoveling I do not know what he paid himself but the job was done and I was ok with It my guess is the two men in that video most likely ether had a son or daughter doing the gutter cleaning or they did it themselves .

If your on a condo bord you would be amazed at the types of complaints that you get we used to have a woman who lived in our building who would regualary phone 911 or call the local police station when people where doing landry past 10 pm ( its a noise bylaw thing in manitoba) The same woman would take any insects that had found it's way into her apartment ( she used to live on the ground floor ) and scotch tape them to a peice of cardbord she would complain about flys or whatever getting into her apartment every meeting as if she was on some type of personal crusade . Bringing her personal insect colection as proof.

I remeber one time a polcie car showed up at 5 min past ten becase my nebour was drying his socks at 1 min past ten unfortunatley for the police my negbour being the criminal mastermind he was had finished drying his socks . this was on a saturday night . Some women could be getting murderd but there was a major crime takeing place in our condominum a person was doing his socks one min past ten how horifying .
I find it rather humorous that this poster is adding a comment on a thread about using the English language when there are so many spelling and grammatical errors in their post.

There seems to be an undercurrent of racism with respect to this situation. When immigrants/foreigners come and pay ridiculous amounts of money for homes and lands, I don't think that sellers ever make it a requirement that those buyers speak English. I believe that the sellers' only requirement is that they "Show me the money."

Perhaps it's the sellers's and the government's fault that we're in this situation. Greed has triggered this unfortunate environment in the lower mainland. Past governments and generations put their greed before the society and community that they claim to love so much.

It is not an undercurrent of racism, it is a question of showing basic respect for your adopted country. It is your obligation to fit in to your new home, not the obligation of the new home to fit in to accommodate you.

The undercurrent of racism are the people who refuse to do this. The racists in this particular case are the ones attempting to force mandarin on their local community.

its funny how , the ones that are fresh off the boat or landed a few yrs , know how to milk our system for everything they can , medical , welfare ,education , etc. etc. they refuse to conform and assimulate to our way of life here and are ALWAYS the first to play the Racist Card.
When in fact they are the biggest racists of all.

there is a word in the Chinese language very similar to Canada and it means "to come and take"...so they do It is purely our stupidity that allows it too happen. Our politicians do nothing to stop the loop holes and do nothing to catch these individuals.

English language should be practiced when forming any types of associations IN CANADA.
OR French seeing as we live in an officially bi-lingual country.

Again. Very true. Don't blame those that take advantage of the system. Blame those run the system and let it happen.

Actually, you can blame both. For different things, but let's face it... you know when you're doing wrong, plain and simple. There are plenty of immigrants that play the game fair and square, because they know right from wrong. Those that don't? Well... yes, I can in fact blame them.

Normally you should be deferring to the language that is dominant in your community. So in Quebec you should be defaulting to French, and in most of the rest of Canada to English.

Totally agree buddy. All I meant was that if there is going to be 'official' meetings and NOT in the language dominant in the community, at the very least, it should be in an official language of the country.
