Does anyone else think that the "Asian reporter" character on "Family Guy" depicts Chinese people in a racist manner with the strong accent and pale skin and all? I find the show hilarious, but think they can get their laughs without resorting to making fun of a visible minorty.

Am I too PC or do others agree?

I'm an Asian....but not sure about this.

How should we feel about Apu on the Simpsons?

I find that Peter Griffin is a poor example of white guys. Every white guy I know is intelligent, courteous, hard working, and has impeccable moral standards. Homer Simpson, he's a perfect example. Groundskeeper Willie is exactly like all my Scots kinfolk back in Auchtenshoogle.

I don't watch Family Guy, but is it possible that the joke they're making is on tokenism in the media? Surely you've noticed how every newscast has that very conspicous "colours of benetton" thing going on (usually the black guy - the whitest black guy you've ever seen in your life - takes up the Stepin Fetchit role of weatherman).

The character is racist, but in a certain way. To me the show is spoofing reporters of Asian heritage, as they were/are all the rage on the tv news. I see it as throwing something back in the face of the networks. For that I say good for the Family Guy.

umm of course it's a tad racist, whenever you have a character that is supposed to represent an entire race, you'll find alot of generalities made.

It's kinda interesting as well that society accepts some forms of racism, ie. having China Town, Little Italy.... I mean if there was no racism would we really need to identify and label where people are living? have sperate stores, etc?

oh and btw, I notice that you don't care how the guy in the wheelchair is portrayed or babies, or talking dogs. kinda hypocritical, eh?

Sometimes being PC cripples us more than anything else.

I do not because "Asian Reporter Tricia Takanawa" is supposed to be Japanese not Chinese.
Actually, she's just pretending to be Japanese so that she can charge a higher rate.

Yeah, I guess just about everyone is fair game these days. But you have to be very careful with Muslims or you may end up triggering a bloody Jihad. And the Jewish people, well they're the untouchables.

Are the creators of "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" Jewish?

we're talking about a show that has a talking dog and a homicidal infant. a horny airline pilot, a parapeligic cop and his perpetually pregnant wife, a homosexual hispanic toy factory owner, and a bar called "The Drunken Clam."

Episodes aired have included but are not limited to:

Peter Griffin hiring a Jewish Accountant to take care of his finances because "jews are good with money."

Quagmire getting his cock stuck in window and non-chalantly calling 911 for assistance.

Tom Tucker and Diane Simmons eating Asian Reporter Trisha Takinawa after a nuclear holocaust and remarking something like "we're going to be hungry in a half hour anyways."

David Bowie crooning "China Girl" to Asian Reporter Trisha Takinawa only to have her break down and hollar "me love you long time, takey you home and maky you fish head soup, fish head soup!" To which Tom Tucker replies "Thank you Trisha, for setting your people back a thousand years"

Lois Griffins father calling his prized race dog Sea Breeze a "filthy, filthy whore!" after she gives births to a litter of puppies bearing an amazing resemblance to Ted Turner.

Chris Griffin being invited into an eldery man's basement for popsicles.

After discovering he had a black ancestor, Peter Griiffin confesses to his friend (who happens to be black) that he knows nothing about how to be black other than not smiling while having a picture taken.

Mayor Adam West (actually voiced by Adam West) calling his left hand a "dirty whore" during a laser rock show.

I'd say this show is light years past being PC, but its funny as hell and takes no prisoners. I think everyone is forgetting about the countless Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Super hero, 80's sit com, pop culture references that, in my humble opinion are much more amusing then the racial stereo types.

Of course there's racial stereotyping in it.... of all races. As far as I'm concerned, it's fantastic and shouldn't stop.

What else does it?

The Simpsons! Has for years. Plus, they poke fun at jewish people on a regular basis... a little more subtle than other pot shots they take, but it's there. Who's the biggest clown on the show? The biggest hypocrit with the worst habits, language and a terrible tast in cartoons and acts? Crusty the Clown.... Jewish. They are a little more subtle than Family Guy with most things, but everything is still there.

King of the Hill! They are a little more... subtle.... than other shows... but it's still there.

Family Guy is so brilliant it is almost scary. The show is so far ahead of anything comedic on the air today. Of course it's racist...that's the idea. They want to push buttons and generate a reaction. The problem is that too many people are so quick to push the PC panic button nowadays. Yes they continually make fun of Jews...so what? Really they are complimenting in that they are good with money and that they rule Hollywood....they do! The co-creator and main writer, Alex Borstein is Jewish. Do you think it bothers her? We need to be able to poke fun at ourselves more often and not take everything so fucking seriously. No one wants to take it on the chin anymore, we're all mad as hell and not going to take it. It's a cartoon and it's entertainment...it's not an anti-Semitic rally. Enjoy it.

Thanks for confirming that the co-creator is Jewish. I already new that the "Simpsons" was created by a Jewish guy. Who said anything about racism against Jews. I pointed out the racist caricature and stereo-typing of Asians. Others pointed out that Indians (Apu on Simpsons) are also racist caricatures. Blacks have been fair game for ever. Even First Nations people are marginalized to nothing but casino owners on these wildly popular shows.

Jews are good with money? Chinese are good with math. Indians are good with computers. Gays are good with fashion/art. Germans are good in engineering. Japanese are good in electronics. These statements are a far cry from exaggerating visible/audible characteristics that make a visible minority a visible minority.

So, can non-Jewish people create cartoons depicting the "Jewish Lobbyist" with a massive nose, close-set beedy eyes and a beenie on his head lamenting about "taywowism" in a heavy Jewish accent? This would "push buttons and generate a reaction" don't you think? And it can be as funny as Hell if executed properly:)

In a nice wet pussy!
I hate stereotypical cartoons like Family Guy and The Simpsons...

I prefer South Park; no stereotypes there whatsoever!

Nawttttttttt... I love them all... :D
