I expect the responses to this question to be largely anecdotal unless there have been some legit studies done: due to the current economic pressures facing individuals (inflation, increases in interest rates, cost of living etc) are there more women entering the industry?

From my limited perspective I'd have to say maybe. Despite all the issues, the difference with this downturn is the employment rate is relatively low which may be diverting the potential increase of new entrants. At the same time I feel there more scammers but again this is just my subjective observation.

Yeah I remember like 4-5 years ago it was so easy to book an SP, especially last minute. and alot more girls were offering quickie rates which is more of my thing if im doing full service.
These days I usually only see SPs for massage with happy ending sessions, and that seems to be a dying niche unfortunately, alot of the independent girls seem to have quit, theres rarely new girls.
If I want full service I just stick to my sugar babies these days, more variety, more options, usually friendlier, hotter and younger girls. and much more reasonable rates.

My impression, no data to back up, is that more ladies are entering the massage business in Victoria. The leolist ad section is strong and, unlike the escort section, seems legit. I attribute the growth to increased price levels and low barriers to entry.

If we were to compare it to during Covid it is definitely higher but pre-covid probably not. There's some agencies but not really not as much as before. Remember there was a while where they were recycling and sharing girls within multiple agencies.

I do think the amount of money girls like Amoranth and Bella Dephine making over 30 million on OnlyFans has made more girls go that route for independence.

In my view, it seems there are far more touring ladies coming to Vancouver versus local indy ladies, whereas, 15 yrs ago, per say, there were far more local indy ladies on Perb than touring. Since Craigslist was shut down from personal service ads, in my opinion there has been a significant decline in the number of providers in the lower mainland. Along with this Lower amount of providers there also seems to be a general elimination of the mid priced independent service provider. Yeah honestly I know girls who have tried onlyfans and failed lol.
but if your a hot, young, fit girl you can make 10-20k a month easy. so that may be why there arent many under the age of 25 escorts these days. The very top onlyfans girls are making crazy money but thats a very small fraction or a percent of girls on there.

that being said, most succesful onlyfans girls have to put their face out there which would negatively affect your career and dating potentials when people find out, so alot of girls wouldnt do it. same with escorting, usually people who know you will find out eventually, I know TONS of girls who go the sugar baby route, it probably is the best way to go for your privacy, but your still running the risk of people finding out about it.

This is 2022 in a nutshell, it's becoming extremely normalized and common place for girls in their early to mid twenties to make millions from sex work, whether online or not and i don't blame them. Climbing to the peak of the corporate ladder or grinding out a business is very, very tough and usually is decades in the making versus 3-5 years for sex work and likely a much funner journey. There is a girl i know locally in her late twenties who pulls in 70k/m from sex work, just shy of 1 million a year and i believe she only declares a small portion of it, mostly tax free though she is actually a bit of a recluse and is clearly a bit off socially with most regular people you see daily in the real world, but she does drive a very nice car and lives in a sub-penthouse in Burnaby LOL

EDIT: To answer OP's question: Good news is that if/when these people produce children, we will likely have a fresh new flood of young girls/their daughters on the market. The apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree! Good for the overall availability of options within the hobby. I think for every successful girl who makes hundreds of thousands a year thru sex related work there are way more who barely make a decent living forcing them to quit and look for another profession. Even though Vancouver has a lot of money to be spent there is way too much competition for most girls to succeed financially for a long time. What I have noticed is that a lot girls have stopped completely, and didn't even fall into the onlyfans craze as a rebound either. Some are only still seeing the occasional regulars without advertising, but a lot of ads more often than not are seemingly the scammer types.
