Are listings with US-American phone numbers ever legitimate?

In browsing listings on Leolist, and also some invisible "Massage Spa" places listed on Google Maps in Vancouver, I have noticed many phone numbers that do not feature a British Columbian area code. In all cases where I've noticed this, I looked up the area codes, and they were all for various parts of the US.

Is this an immediate red flag? Or do a fair number of legitimate local providers use phone numbers from US-American companies?

So far, I have tried messaging with only two of these; one from Google Maps and one from Leolist. Both of them were quite suspicious in their replies. Neither would answer my question about why their phone number was from the US.

I see more listings on Leolist with phone numbers from various parts of the US.

BIG red flag. Unless an SP specifically says she's touring, you can bet they are fake.

If you are really curious about one of those ads, text the number, let them know you are interested, and ask "please tell me where in the city you are so I can gauge my travel time".
99% of the time the answer will be "where are you? or what city are you in?"
And at that point the game will be afoot.
I then ask please just provide me a cross street and I can figure it out.
Trust me on this, that will then create a dialog that effectively disappears up that fuckers asshole in ever diminishing circles.

With very rare exceptions of ladies using text apps who are legit, any area code from outside Canada is a 99% no. Even areas from other parts of Canada need a major look, as many scammers are posting ads from coast to coast. If she wants a deposit on top of that, with no PERB reviews from reputable posters, just move on to the next.
