Nucks are going for another record, They are focused on ending the season with a record 8 home game wins.
8-27-5 home record, --.263 points %, which is their franchise low and the worst home record in the NHL this season. It’s also among the worst in the modern NHL era (last ~30 years) by points percentage and home-ice futility.
Congrats again.🍻

FUCK THE AQUILINI’S.

not having a practice facility is a colossal embarrassment, those cheap fucks. I’ve coached minor hockey for 30 odd years and I fight for extra ice time week in and week out for 6 months every goddamm year so our kids can develop. If there’s a canceled game/practice somewhere, I’m fucking jumping all over the ice allocator to get more ice time. Most coaches go with the prebooked once a week practices but I commit myself to twice or more, plus games. I’ve been to Shattuck where Crosby, Celebrini and many other amazing players went to school… and it’s absolutely amazing what they do and one of the most important things for growth is providing players with unlimited ice time practically 24 hrs a day!

how the fuck do you expect Canucks players to develop or the coaches to work on things with individuals or small groups if they’re just stuck in between already crazy tight ice time schedules at public rinks like Father Bauer! Just in Vancouver alone, the T-birds and VMHA have hundreds of minor teams and they’re overflowing into Richmond to get game ice and Burnaby for practices… so how the fuck is there any ice leftover for the Canucks to practice on??

This ain’t a new problem. The owners have had DECADES to deal with this but instead of buying property for the Canucks to have an amazing practice facility, they’re 100% focused on their own real estate empire… they are fucking developers and you’re telling me after DECADES they can’t find property to build a practice facility??? FUCK THE AQUILINI’S!!!

Yes, but, what fans have to realize --- and believe me many are not aware --- that finishing last does not concrete their position in the draft as #1. It use to but no longer.

IMHO, it's fine if they want to cheer on the rebuild narrative but, that should include firing the one who ruined this team. Rutherford and Alvin. They too should be fired. Perhaps, that will happen in the off season. But will the Aquilini group do that? Hard call right now. Will Adam Foote remainas well? Another question.

There are bright spots going forward. Lately Minnesota recruitments are showing promise playing with Brock. Demkos surgery might prove to be the solution for next season should his nagging issue be resolved. He's not over the hill old yet. Our D-men aren't too bad right now either. But no doubt this upcoming draft pick will have impacts on who we'll get. Trades as well are also on the table I'm sure. E, Petterson? I Highly doubt any other team will want him. But who knows stranger things have happened.

I don't get Canucks fans rooting for them to tank so they possibly get a #1 pick.

They had one of the best players in the game to build a franchise around, and traded him away because the team, and management sucked. Why would any top 3 first round picks want to play here? If they do get the #1 pick, I'm sure within 3 years they'll have ruined him, too.

If you've built a collapsing house, why would the same people build a better house?

Darn, I thought they would end the season on a four game winning streak! The hottest they have been all year on game 79, 80, and 81. Instead they will end on a loss with 100 more goals against than goals for.

Alvin gone. How is Rutherford still there?

Congratulations to Brock Boeser - finisshed the season with a league-worst - Minus 48. Not just for forwards, but out of every player.
He literally costs the team two goals for every one he scores.

Pettersson - Minus -16, so his 15 goals were as good as scoring none, and playing +- 0.

I liked Coach Bowness's rant calling out the entire Blue Jackets organization. Culture Change. If ever an organization needed one, its the Canucks.

If you watched Rutherfords year ending speech. He basically admitted to tanking the season for draft reasons lol

I am a Habs fan so if the Canucks want to watch masterclass on rebuilding, look at the work of Kent Hughes. The process has it's frustrations and it often gets worse before it gets better, but the dividends are very rewarding. It requires time and patience, something this fanbase isn't very good at.

For this to work, the Canucks need a front office overhaul and to make sure they get the best pick they can this year in the draft. If they get the first pick, it's Gavin McKenna. From there, I'd try to bring up everyone that is ready from Abbotsford and move out roster players for picks and prospects. There has to be an honest evaluation of the organization and everyone in it and to make the necessary adjustments to win.

The Canucks history is - whomever they draft does squat, until they're traded away. Then they thrive.

A proper rebuild with the current owner and front office will continue to circle the drain.

Look at Chicago -- beat the Canucks senseless for years until Burrows Slayed the Dragon! What has Chicago done since? Wallowed in the basement for 15 years while trying to build a competitive team. This is the thing that management, ownership, the media and fans really need to grasp (particularly the particularly stupid brand of fans Vancouver seems to have) -- this 'rebuild' isn't happening in five years. This team is still recovering from the moronic moves made by bonehead Benning. Then the JR/Allvin errors and misplays have to be addressed.

Then -- finally -- you can look at how to build a competitive team. And given that fewer teams have been as idiotic as this one, and many teams have more resources and can turn things around faster, makes this process even more difficult.

Nearly every advantage this team has had over the past 15 years they have totally fucked up.

I don't see them getting any better with current ownership. If Papa Aquilini had any brains he'd fired Franky and hire a competent President to oversee the whole thing.

just a minor "edit"...Burrows "slayed the Dragon" in 2011....the Hawks somehow won the Stanley up in 2013 and 2015.They have declined sine then but "wallowed in the basement for 15 years" is an exaggeration.
agree the Canucks are facing a long road back.

Thanks! 😊. Memory not what it once was and I should have fact checked before posting.

But yeah, anyone expecting a quick turnaround for the Canucks will be in for some major disappointment.

Do you think the disastrous tenure of the Sedins as "special advisors" are over (Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Patrick Allvin, Marcus Pettersson, Elias Pettersson)? I don't think they had influence in Canucks trading for Loui Eriksson. I bring this up because the Toronto Maple Leafs are going this route with hiring Mats Sundin as "Senior Executive Advisor".

They spent 1 year as advisors to Benning in '21 before transitioning to player development working with the kids in Abby the next year.

They didn't have anything to do with roster management

Toronto has worse problems than Sundin... The new gm is a very suspect hire that probably won't lead to much

Food for thought, who idolized Sundin growing up?..... Mcdavid 👀
